The death was not reported. I spoke to an embassy in Japan AND Japanese police AND the guy who is managing Byuu''s case on the U.S. side. Claiming the pipeline to the US is broken ignores the other deaths of US foreigners that would later be reported.
Suicides are not reported on the news because of copycat suiciding (Werther effect), not because of privacy reasons.
This is a well-documented phenomenon. It's why all media, whether movies or the news, are actively discouraged from showing the act of committing suicide, and the news are discouraged from covering a suicide case unless it's high profile like celebrities. Even the WHO released a document about it, which was then
translated to Japanese. The Japanese know not to publicize suicides. There are specific ways to discuss suicide in media (especially news) in guidelines that are shown to decrease suicide rates (Papageno effect). Shut the fuck up if you don't know what you're talking about.
