Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

On one hand, most of the shows that were axed by HBOMax look like garbage to me, ugly cartoons almost no one will miss. On the other, it proves how disposable animated shows are to the execs at networks and streaming services and that should alarm anyone who works in the animation field. The network execs in charge of overseeing animated series often seem to have the least respect for the medium and anyone who works in it.
I would actually be pretty okay with scorched earth tactics if shows that promote drugging a kid to "change gender" are given the well deserved boot. Wait for the Tumblr hires mucking up the industry to be fired or quietly pushed aside.

I gotta ask, just how fucked will the new season of Invincible be? Because the main concerns (at least for me) is that:
-The overall mystery of why Nolan did what he did is gone now, so the main hook and draw of the show is nonexistent.
-The show is popular as all hell, what with the help of that one scene becoming a meme, so it wouldn't be surprising if the writers started phoning in more (unsuccessful) comedic moments in the show.
-Mark's sheboon girlfriend who's name currently escapes me is bar none the worst aspect of what season 1 had to offer and was a completely unreasonable and unlikable cunt the moment she revealed she knew Mark was a superhero. So I would expect more dumb shit like that showing up in the next season in some form or another.
-There's a lot of side story setups for characters that (depending on how they handle it) could easily become cluttered and overbloated as the show goes on.

Currently keeping my expectations tempered as I've seen countless shows that were once considered "great" soon take a nosedive once they became popular or something happened during production that hampered their potential.
What is going to be the central plot for this season? The possibility of Earth joining the intergalactic resistance against Nolan's people? Major villains wrecking havoc because Nolan BTFO of Earth, the Not Justice League is dead, and the younger heroes are still not up to it? Whatever that organism Mark inadvertently brought back from Mars starts running wild? And like you said, the side stories especially all the relationship and personal drama could make the season even more bloated.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to Plasmo:
Plasmo charts the misadventures of the titular alien, a 3-year-old shapeshifting "polybop" stranded since he was an egg on the barren world of Pynco, as he strives to adventure into space and find out the secrets of his origins. Aiding him in his quest are his surrogate sister, Parsty, their best friend Nik-Nik, and the inept alien adventurers Coredor and Brucho. Heavily underrated, and Anthony Lawrence should be proud of himself for making it. Above is the original 1989 short. You can find the 1997 full series here.

Yabba Dabba Dinosaurs is getting rid of yet Jellystone still exists.
wasn't yabba dabba dinosaurs created by or at least involved a hideous tranny who's role models who "encouraged" him to troon out included dot warner minerva minka and other 90's furry girls? Plus he wanted to have a troon kid in it? one only like 5 years old or so or however pebbles and bam bam are in that show?

edit yup it was found a post that proves it thanks @Life is Hell...
Doesn't help that it's also gonna have some creepy troon writer's self insert character in it

True. Bill and Joe didn't die for this shit to erupt either.

Does anyone remmber the Jimmy Neutron cartoon. I remmber loving that as a kid
It was one of their best series and I am glad Nickelodeon is starting to pay more attention to it again as it is starting to pop up in Nick games and theme parks. All-Stars Brawl and soon Nickelodeon Kart racers 3 will have representation from Jimbo.

The show itself was also great. It is always depicted as Nick's answer to Dexter, but it was fairly different. It was one of the first Nick shows along with Fairly Odd Parents to have continuity, reoccurring villains, etc.. It is crazy to go back and see just how big the show was though. Like Rugrats, I think we forget the scale of how big the Nickelodeon show was. Jimmy was a huge part of the Nick brand, astro-turfed, maybe, but still large. The fact that he got a full on ride in Universal, and was definitely the leader for the Nick games was big. Jimmy also had a lot of product tie-in ads, particularly Crysler cars, his final appearance.

Jimmy was one of those shows I always loved catching every day after school on Friday's in the afternoons before switching over to Cartoon network for Cartoon Cartoon Fridays.

Someone must have already posted this, but I just want to post it anyway because the sheer stupidity of this bitch.

Anyone who thinks Pepe le Pew was so one-sided and completely rejected, to the point of making him a symbol of rape culture, has never seen a Pepe le Pew cartoon.

All the Pepe cartoons are about unrequited love and bad timing, and all of that is secondary to making fun of French people. Perfection.

Jimmy Neutron is great, and the humor holds up. There's some fun stories floating around the internet about the animators working on a shoestring budget and the computers crashing every weekend, so they'd have to redo their scenes and cut corners. But the writing was always funny, I thought.

My main worry about HBO Max at this point is the Venture Bros. movie. I cannot lose it, I can't.

A nice voice doesn't always equal nice person. Tara? You voiced a purple unicorn for a decade and replaced Arleen Sorkin as the voice of Harley Quinn for years. (I'm honestly surprised she wasn't her voice on the animated series) don't pretend to know a thing about how politics work.

She also tried to get an immigrant taxi driver fired, simply because she tried to strike a conversation about how much Trump sucked, only for the guy to admit that he likes the guy.

They were doing it on a relatively cheap program, I think - it might have been something you could actually buy in stores - and yet, it looked pretty good despite all that.
