Apparently Selen held up their costumes - Petra and Rosemi's were done months ago

Yeah. The NijiEN thread on /vt/ was pretty wild with anti-Selen posting as a result of this. Especially because Selen wasn't in Petra's chat, unlike a bunch of other NijiEN members. Vox showed more support than Selen did lol. As one would expect, the "Selen hates her genmates" rrat is pretty popular right now.

We do know that Selen wanted her reveal to be in September - she said that in a recent zatsudan. That being said, I do find it hard to believe that NijiEN management would delay the outfits over the entire summer just because of the wishes of one of the livers. Maybe there was some other factor involved. I obviously couldn't say for sure, though. Personally I think they shouldn't be so strict in sticking to releasing outfits as waves. JP doesn't do it like that.

I don't get Niji's mindset about holding up the others. Cover was perfectly fine pulling IRyS from the Cope outfit reveal last minute. They may not have been official genmates, but the reveal was announced together. The whole secrecy thing is a pain in the ass, not just for the fans but the talents as well. Having mouth breathers screeching about no outfits for months when something could have been said earlier to shut them up seems like you're setting yourself up for trouble. Not an exclusive Niji issue either. Cover's failure to disclose delays for Myth and IRyS are well documented and should have been learned by the other corps.

It is kinda strange, because Niji JP doesn't do it like that. Not even for recent waves like Eden-gumi (Ranunculus and Voltaction are too new, so we don't have second outfits for them yet). IMO it should more or less be done on the basis of "when the outfit and model is ready, go ahead and show it.

Something that remains a mystery to me is loyalty to poor performing artists by Riku/YAGOO in that if I was in their position and I had hired an artist to deliver me an anime girl drawing and they missed deadlines, but still delivered I'd thank them for their work and never hire them again. Why don't they approach artists they already work with that actually have a quick turn around time and offer them more anime girls to draw if they want to shoulder the burden as a co-prosperity agreement so my talents get more goofy costumes to perform in? I get that each artist has their own quality, but surely an experienced gacha game artist can successfully copy another gacha game artist's style. It's not like asking Pierre Soulages to imitate Gustave Courbet.

I'm mostly just laughing my ass of because the previous rrat was that there was an issue with Rosemi's mama, hence people upping the Rosemi hate for months, but it turns out it was Selen who held them back after all.

I'm not an expert on japanese business culture but if I had to take a guess, it would be due to rigid adherence to silly nip honour culture and they don't want to commit dishonurubu conduct by annulling a contract for art support, especially if the artist happens to also be someone of some renown. As long as Irys' been languishing without support because Redjuice can't be fucking bothered to do anything, Yagoo's sitting on his hands because losing The REDJUICE would be a gut punch to the company even if it's the artists fault for non-performance. For probably the same reason shit's just not getting done (wherein I give benefit of the doubt that Mr. Aka Juice is simply too busy with everything else), they probably don't want to just pile on a ton of work to a smaller group of artists unless they were to be entirely in-house.

I agree, but in this case Kamame-mama had already designed Elira, Selen, and Elira's second outfit for Niji, and presumably met the deadline for all 3 of those. I don't know if the delays were on their end for Selen's outfit, but they are an artist who has worked with Niji before.

Selen wanted to delay to September because she has some kind of big idea for her outfit reveal that required the extra work.

On top of that, she's currently planning TWO tournaments: WWE 2K22 alone, and the Fall Guys tournament seems to be mostly alone with Nagao Kei's assistance recruiting participants from the main branch. The 500K horror week just so happened to coincide with all this too and I'm omitting the work she puts into the VRChat content and assets and streaming output.

But the outfit announcement stream seemed to suggest that the greenlight sprung up on all of them. It was even Selen who brought it up that they just found out about it all and that's why it was so scuffed. So, I don't think Selen herself had much say in any of it.

If I was to hazard a guess, I'd say the management are trying to pace out announcements so that there's always something around the corner.

Ina's voice acting is still shit, but I'll take what I can get. The holo x NGS update released earlier today. This is a promotional video being shown in the game.

I wonder, japanese sounds like a fast language. As in you speak at a faster rate than in english. The cadence is different too. Would it be possible for Ina to not sound out of place even if she was a decent voice actor? I also wonder if she felt forced to speak faster to keep up the pace

That last part with Ina's static model floating around gave a good chuckle. With how much the hologra team has improved I would like to see what a serious attempt at a battle or action scene would look like coming out from them.

Admittedly, I'm sure a few of the JP talents sound equally shit or phoned in (which they literally are) during Hologras but we probably just can't tell because they're native speakers unlike Ina. And I think she's improved a bit since the Umesea collab. It's nice seeing her animated like this and really makes me want Council to join the regular Hologras, or have their own like the Stars.

I hope they would be their own rather than forcing their way into the JP ones. I don't think most of the girls get that brand of humour. IRyS, Kiara, Ina and Bae (probably) would fit in with the regular series, but the rest would come off as weird.
