She didn't come up with this conspiracy theory on her own, by the way. She merely repeated it from other sources. Some people unironically believe that the Camp Fire in California back in 2018 was caused by a space-based directed-energy weapon, sweeping over the area like the Hammer of Dawn from Gears of War. They cite some strange photos as evidence.

Further complicating matters is that concepts for space-based DEWs actually did exist under Reagan's SDI. They came up with ideas for all sorts of things, including fission-pumped lasers. An anti-ballistic missile laser in orbit putting out some hundreds of megawatts certainly would be able to carbonize things if aimed at the ground.



There are some problems with this immensely retarded idea. You wouldn't be able to hide it from anyone. Any dumbass would be able to look up and see, very clearly, the glowing orange rectangular patches in the sky from the enormous, football-field-sized radiators it would take for a space-based nuclear reactor not to melt itself. If it used solar panels instead of a reactor, you'd still be able to make out the whole damn thing with either the naked eye or a backyard telescope, because its arrays would have to be much, much larger than the ones on the ISS.

Of course, arson requires little more than paying some random punk with a can of gasoline and a lighter to set a fire, which would be far cheaper and more reliable than putting goddamn laser cannons in space.

Mass shooting is a great idea. Not as in we should precipitate one, but that we should stop one.
