Tbf, pretty much everything is on the honor system when you're governing more than a thousand people.
Well yeah, but I would've thought in camera review was a major part of the process. I also like how they completely redacted the section on probably cause, which feels like a massive Sixth Amendment violation.

a rocket launch that didn't actually happen because it got scrubbed due to technical issues.
"technical issues" meaning "oh fuck, it almost exploded due to fuel leaks!!!"
Quoting the important bit
As precious minutes ticked away, NASA repeatedly stopped and started the fueling of the Space Launch System rocket with nearly 1 million gallons of super-cold hydrogen and oxygen because of a leak. The fueling already was running nearly an hour late because of thunderstorms off Florida’s Kennedy Space Center.

The leak of highly explosive hydrogen appeared in the same place that saw seepage during a dress rehearsal back in the spring.

Then a second apparent hydrogen leak turned up in a valve that had caused trouble in June but that NASA thought it had fixed, officials said.

Later in the morning, NASA officials spotted what they feared was a crack or some other defect on the core stage - the big orange fuel tank with four main engines on it - but they later said it appeared to be just a buildup of frost.

It's impressive how Biden and his handlers have been able to cause this many fuck ups and disasters in just half of his first term, it's like they're doing a speedrun on how to collapse nation from within.
You'd think so but their strategy of putting him in his basement and letting others take the heat worked. The student loan thing is polling well with his base, enough that the Supreme Court declaring it unconstitutional (should a suit reach the court) might be a political hot potato.
He's up almost 5 points in approval ratings from his nadir six weeks ago. There's now decent odds the Dems make gains in the Senate, and the swing in the House is reduced to something more akin to 2018's blue eddy.

I'm not sure I agree. Time will tell, obviously, but this feels more like a dead cat bounce than a genuine rally of support.

With his base sure, because 90% of people with student debt were in his base in the first place. I'm curious how the numbers would breakdown if you split democrats based on whether they paid their loans vs still having debt.

I mean, yeah, but rockets are rockets and space launch rockets are space launch rockets. Which is to say that we are always disconcertingly close to rapid unscheduled deconstruction. This is more depressingly mundane than it feels like.
It'd be mundane on a program that wasn't already a gigantic shit show. For those who don't give a fuck about space shit, this was printed back in 2018:
It's just a clown show of delays and now a failed launch. I wouldn't be surprised if decades from now it comes out the program had a massive embezzlement scheme or some equivalent fuckery going on.

The thing with this plan is Jill would not only have to keep up the ruse for at least 2 full years (1 more than Wilson's wife did), she would also have to while the economy crashes around her, a Uniparty Civil War is going on, as well as the fact the only source of news isn't your national newspaper anymore. I don't see this ruse being upheld for long, or at least it becomes an "open secret" at the minimum as keeping Joe hidden away become more and more a liability than any sort of advantage. It's not the 1900s, it's a lot harder to hide stuff, especially with the internet being around. Of course, none of this means the dumbfucks won't do it, after all, it worked for Wilson, why wouldn't it work for Biden?

We all want handlers running the country. None of us wants Biden or Kamala in charge (well, some people might want Kamala in charge, but those people are not our best and brightest). I think we'll just continue to let it happen.

The Biden presidency hasn't given us Challenger 2... yet. I guess that's one thing I can say in its favor

Putting on my nonpartisan hat for a bit, I think this is too early and it will be much easier to press on economic issues during crunch time. They should have dropped it in late September or something.

You can't have a Challenger 2 if you can't get your rocket off the ground.
I'm inclined to agree at the moment at least. The GOP is gaining ground in the generic congressional ballot on RCP currently.
This is how strong the grassroots is. They're making gains despite the constant backstabbing of the establishment GOP.

Possibly, while the easy line is "Why wouldn't they just stop" I am.... increasingly thinking Zelinsky pulled a nuclear option. We know Ukraine is -the- central hub of corruption for the western world.

How much blackmail material does the president of it have access to?
The problem with this theory is Hunter's laptop. It doesn't matter what kind of evidence Zelensky has if law enforcement will simply ignore it while ordering media monopolies to omerta the story. The idea that anyone in the upper echelon of the Biden regime is touchable by the law doesn't hold up.

The more likely answer is that it's not their money lol. Every bomb, bullet, boot, bandage, and stick of gum we dump in the black holhol is a contract for some DoD parasite, who will kick back a cut to them form of lobbying, campaign contributions, etc.

Between the Ukraine war and college debt forgiveness, I'm betting on seeing Flavor Flav levels of conspicuous consumption in NoVA

And that money is staying in NOVA/DC. Nobody is giving the manufacturing lines any share of this money. But this isn't the first time C-Suite, Think Tanks, and Lobbyists make out like bandits while the rest of us operate on a shoestring.

Cope, seethe, and dilate, Keffals. You can't stop the signal.

On to current events:

@Krokodil Overdose has the right of it. This is an extension of the problem we face now: you can pass all the laws you like, but if they don't get enforced, they're meaningless. Also, my money is definitely on the Beltway using Ukraine to launder foreign aid back into their pockets, which neatly explains how many Congressfaggots magically get richer. Even the Mr. Smith Goes To Washington types could be tempted with the kind of cash that's flowing through, and after all, 'It's Free Real Estate Money!'.

The upside, though, is that their mask is badly torn, and Trump keeps needling them relentlessly. Worse, DeathSantis is waiting in the wings, and they've had no luck driving a wedge between the two.

Also, they're fucking morons. That's always useful.

If the bar is doing a better job than Joe or Kamala, it's not a very high one, and it shows.

Fueling the Ukraine/Russia conflict, with a NPP being repeatedly shelled by its proxy
More refugees, from everywhere
US borders imploding
Worldwide and domestic fuel crisis
Worldwide and domestic food crisis
Worldwide and domestic inflation crisis
Afghanistan back in Taliban hands hours after the departure of US military
Iraq exploding and US Embassy evacuated

and I could go on but you all know the rest.

Welcome back, hug your babies tight.

While we were gone the GOPe attempted a Tet offensive against Trump, not only in Chyna Mitch pulling ads in AZ, but letting little Ben Shapiro try and take a stab at Donnie Two Scoops because muh polling. Richard Baris is right, or a commenter on his posts is, that Shapiro is Paul Ryan 2.0.

Trump is polling 5 points higher than republican candidates on average in battleground states, but go ahead Ben, you probably staged that faggy little podcast event to show you totally trigger people with your 5'4" self.
