Why trot out gun control now of all times? It's hardy a home run for the Dems and it will only stir up the GoP voters even more. IMHO this is a really stupid move by the Biden Administration, bringing this up now of all times rather then either waiting until the midterms are over or saving it for 2024.

Carter was well-meaning but was an inept small-time state-level politician who was way too in over his head in the mire of the DC swamp.

I always had this eerie feeling that Carter wasn't really supposed to be the main man for the Democrats but lucked out in the primaries and with Ford pardoning Nixon after Watergate, the DNC was in a position where they could run a potted plant and would've won the 1976 election and they just rolled with it at first.

Joe Biden is just a corrupt scumbag and always has been from day one.

His post-political life has been massively whitewashed by a media who desperately want to pretend Carter's principles weren't at the forefront of his failure. He was an incompetent president and was justly outed for it, even with the deep state dragging their heels on rescuing diplomats in Iran so Reagan got credit for bringing them home.

To put it in the word of a fat, useless pedophile streamer; "our goal is to win, fuck ethics and morality" also famous "no bad tactics only bad targets".

This alone is enough to push me to help out the right in anyway I can. At least they have some measure of standards.

The cost in political capital that would be required to pass a Federal AWB is unbelievably steep, I don't think they have enough to make it happen in the first place. Even if they did, with the Breun decision the writing is on the wall regarding Assault Weapon Bans - they are Constitutionally dead in the water. So unless they plan to Scalia half the Court or pack it with troons, which would be a more expensive undertaking by the way, they'd be throwing all kinds of effort into failure. I know it wouldn't be the first time, but still seems too stupid to be real.

The President of the United States just went on TV to mock and belittle about half of his countrymen just because they don't vote for him.

The PoTUS was supposed to represent the everyman American against the politicians that made up the bulk of the government structure. To be a unifying figure that people would look to in times of stress and hardship.

How much longer will the Republic stand? The divisions are growing too great to ever heal without massive violence by one side or the other.

Hell if Trump does somehow get back into office in 2024 the lefties will go absolutely nuclear in their war against him. Nothing is scared anymore. America is just a word to be tossed around which replaces the phrase "my side".

My guess is that internal polling is showing terrible motivation from their base, and so they are doing whatever they can to get the numbers close enough to tip over to some Ws. Same thing with dangling the student loan forgiveness in front of their face, they're desperate just to get the base to the polls.
