General Discussion for Virtual Youtubers / Vtubers / Chuubas - it's okay to be a simp for 2D, just don't thirstpost.

  • 🐕 I am attempting to get the site runnning as fast as possible. If you are experiencing slow page load times, please report it.
Surprised the Chinese government haven't started their own Vtuber agency, it absolutely would not fucking surprise me.
They did. The debut stream's comments section was quickly overrun, on top of COVID making waves, and China eventually trashed the idea altogether.

EDIT: Ninja'd by Fish, but it took me a while to find that article. Surprised someone already archived it.
EDIT2:
I archived it just for the post because I know some people prefer that rather than giving clicks to random news sites.

Seeing all the shit China did in relation to Vtubers reminds me how much of a shithole Authoritarian countries are that they see Cartoon women as a threat, the west might be shit but at least I can pretend to be an anime person without having to register my name and all my personal details.
They tried to run a west-facing, propaganda focused vtuber agency, and they got shit on so bad I think it got cancelled before the first debut happened, or shortly after.
edit: This is what I get for going to grab something while the archive page does its thing

Kronii's fanbase should be happy to see her in this good mood. It's been a while that I actively watched her but I guess it's save to say that she really enjoyed this collab. At least she didn't sound like she is dead inside as so often.

There is going to be a great finale of Hololive Summer named Climax Story Live, a 3D concert with all 35 jp members plus Gura and Ina as special guests according to the announcement tweet (probably because of UmiSea). Starting in 2,5 hours

I will say that after seeing 4chan and Reddit's takes on this shit, I'm glad this site is still up.
This thread is basically a slightly more edgy version of Virtual Youtubers subreddit, just without a chink admin. I could probably copy-paste most takes from here to there and mine that precious karma because it would surely get upvoted. What can you buy for reddit karma btw?

Meanwhile after shilling chink games on stream Namie is finally opening a bilibili account, are you excited?

Wonder if it turns up to be some business/sponsored effort as I was predicting weeks ago

we have also lost one of Sana's drawing VODs, so there's that.

I'm pretty sure this has the potential of blowing in Kronii's face even beyond the original ramifications of interacting with filthy penishavers and sullying her imagined purity. If she truly did tell her fans to communicate what they think about her content openly - as some of the comments claim - and doing just that results only in being bullied with impunity by a bunch of tourists and other fans who equate everything with being a controlling unicorn, with nobody to defend them and Kronii going AWOL (and most likely not touching the topic in the future), what worth is even in staying active in that community anyway?

That being said, at least some of the comments expressing doubts about this being the start of nijisanjification have some minor merit even if I doubt it'll come to that. The amount of forced impromptu collabs where nijiEN males would just hop in on voice chat was very disruptive at first.
The thing about impromptu male collabs is..it doesn't work with Holo. They would have to fundamentally change how they approach day to day streaming.

A lot of the Niji girls just sit in open VC whenever they stream. No one in Holo does that. Only during very specific times. Like when Calli did Jump King and Mumei during one of her streams. They very deliberately went into a channel and then pinged everyone to let them know they were there and can talk.

You can't have random males popping into VC if you're never even in VC in the first place. The worries about penishavers shitting up normal streams is unfounded. The most you'll ever get is one saying something in chat, which will just fly by unnoticed unless the girls acknowledge it.

Could things change? Sure. But as it is right now, Holo just doesn't do shit that way.

They've tried to do a duo of vtubers, it didn't go well

You're shitting me? I feel bad for the stars (Unless they're CCP members then they can die) man I didn't think the CCP would do something this fucking stupid, what would their content even be "Here is a state-directed 1-hour 30-minute stream where we play Genshin for the state-allotted amount of time then end the stream."

Alright wtf is going on with MikeCat now

Yeah the 'impromptu' Niji collabs aren't actually impromptu at all. Their Discord has multiple chat channels for different things - so if someone hops in its by design.

A good example of this is Enna's most recent Cats Organised Neatly stream where Aia joined, followed by Fulgur, Millie, Reimu, Luca, Pomu and Uki. It turned out that Enna was actually in the 'Totsumachi' VC even though she never tagged people to join because she wanted to work on her anxiety.

Of course, you can all expect Holo to follow suit, as it is one of the next steps in my Nijification plan.

Namiegoreng is planning to start streaming on Bilibili
So the rrats on her quitting Holo to play her Gacha games might have some weight

I don't like buying into rrats without absolute proof, but it really seems like she chose chasing China-bux over Hololive.

That's kinda her main bread and butter considering she's a prolific gatcha artist for both Chinese and Japanese games. It's less exclusively choosing China money and more her choosing Gacha as whole.

Karma doesn't do anything besides give you big internet number, as far as I know.

Yeah, it's more of a profession thing. She made the choice to be a viable professional artist in a sphere that involves a lot of Chinese companies. Not that bad of a choice considering that her art is popular. Her Arknights femboy is one of the most popular male characters in that game iirc and she's popular in the FGO sphere.

It is actually a huge problem and in a couple of decades we could probably see the collapse of China demography as a whole, there's just too few educated women that want to marry their country bumpkin (thanks to the one child policy).

And the last thing they want is the JP otaku way of life, even though it's already starting to take root there.

IIRC from what I've read and heard, a lot of Chinese expat living and working in another country are asked annually sometimes monthly by party officials/police for their current personal details, or else their family living in China are going to have a bad time. That's why almost everyone including vtubers have to register all their personal details, I think this defeats the purpose of vtubers.

I was just thinking about how a whale (like orca) could start his own lovequest by commissioning an anime girl waifu of their exact desires and then spamming applications on Twitter hoping to get girls to audition for the voice in exchange for guaranteed financial support as a 1view and how noone has done this yet to laugh at.

Like picture old chris trying to get women to voice a rosechu vtuber.
No, that's not why whales drop their money like that, they want the name recognition, they want to be singled out in a sea of thousands of viewers.

If said whale is the only one who watches, it defeats the purpose. It's just a dick measuring contest for them.

Also, considering that demographic collapse, wasn't there a big thing about China collapsing in 30 days afew weeks ago? How's that going?
First time hearing about it, but there's no way they are collapsing in 30 days. The only thing I read about is the real estate market in shambles, where most people put their money since the banks there are pretty inept.

China has a very Ethno-nationalist mindset, its why they see Taiwan as such a threat. If you are Chinese, you serve the CCP, your first and only loyalty should be to the CCP, it doesn't matter if you've been living in your new country for decades, you're a servant to the state.
