He moved to a bigger store in NY right before the rona hit
He didn't fire/lay off a single employee
Gets a letter saying he owes extra taxes to pay for the rona bailouts (that he didn't take)
Gets fed up with the bullshit of NY and finally makes his move
Goes to Texas taking ~1/2 of his current employees (I think his best guys decided to move)
He also got offered a to-good-to-turn-down job by the billionaire that funded his right to repair stuff who’s foundation (FUTO) is in Austin.
Apparently one of the conditions of Louis' employment is that he needs to keep Rossmann Repair Group going and move it to Austin.

It's all covered off in this thread.

Same with Paul's Hardware who basically said: "I don't care about drama". Is the YT tech sphere so scared of LTT?
I used to watch Paul back when he was on the Newegg team doing videos with Kyle and the others. He's not really a confrontational guy and to be honest, he's sort of limp wristed. I would say he's more on the side of too afraid to confront and state a strong opinion on a current tech youtuber controversy. This could be for fear of getting embroiled in some drama or losing subscribers and money on youtube.

Man I remember when I used to watch this show. I guess I was right when it felt like it was going to shit and they were betraying their gamer roots.
Many such cases, they either stop while they're good , or they get bad and start selling every cheap item they can get produced from china.

Not responding too heavily to drama is a pretty good position to hold when youre a content creator in such a competitive category, exceptions being of course if the drama is centered around you.

I know absolutely nothing about what makes a screwdriver good so I am really excited for the all the reviews to come out to see if it is actually good. I found this reddit post from a bag enthusiast subreddit (very weird idea for a subreddit) saying the bag was very niche but that premium bags are expensive. I don't really get it, but I do enjoy seeing people outside of LTT's orbit review and react to their products to see if they are actually good or just shitty youtuber merch that is just a brand. If I had to guess, a new manufacturer like LTT will probably do a lot of super simple mistakes that probably always happen when you are new to a space.

The warranty process sounds sketchy.

Why not take back the defective screwdriver? If it's a simple fix, LTT could take the defective screwdrivers back and either fix them to fulfil future warranty claims and/or sell them at a discount as factory refurbished. There are plenty of big companies out there that regularly sell factory refurbished items via eBay.

The process of scratching an "x" into the side of the defective screwdriver sounds like it's open to abuse at both LTT's and the customer's end. What happens if the customer's second screwdriver is also faulty? Will LTT consider the matter closed after replacing the first one? What if the customer doesn't scratch an "x" into the first defective screwdriver? What happens if the customer injures themselves whilst scratching the "x"? Would LTT be liable for the injury?
Linus shouldn't be running a business if he can't do something as simple as dealing with faulty products, he runs a million dollar fucking company, at this point he needs a team or board who knows what the fuck they're doing, the soul is already long gone so its not like anything will change in the slightest.

What yall think of Gary Key being Head of the Lab?
just judging from the PSU tester they invested it seems to me that they are overthinking what they need, just from the goals Linus wanted to achieve mentioned in the video.
or they are just confused tbh I really don't know.

New video
Here's a better thumbnail, because I have no idea who the video is about.

Interesting read, but I think they all dance around the issue of the backpack.

From what I know about backpacks, most of them intentionally have few pockets and separators. Because if I want to pack something big that theoretically fits into it, these pockets and it being subdivided hinder that. And most people will not use that many pockets anyway, because who has a water bottle and an AirTag and a charger on him all the time?

Also, the more pockets and subdivisions are in it, the more expensive it gets, with only minimal improvement for the customer.

So that's what they mean when the redditors say it's "tailored for a specific use case".

To me it seems like a real newcomer project and them sitting at the drawing board what they'd want in a backpack, without weighing the pros and cons.

But I'm interested to read what people say after using it as a daily driver for months.

They say in the video that the part that houses the mechanism and attaches to the shank is made of zinc. I'd be interested to see if their competitors like snap on use zinc because it seems rather cheap and chinesium to use a cast zinc part in what they try to sell as a premium tool.

He broke up with her on good terms months ago out of the fact that Louis didn't felt like he's a man that she deserves. She has since moved back to Hawaii I believe.
Sounds very diplomatic, LOL.

When he spent some time looking for real estate outside of NYC (he really had just about enough of living there years ago) he had her on or talked about how she didn't like anything he liked, housing wise, and just didn't seem or cared to understand the concept of state income tax or local taxes, he talked about that topic a lot during those streams. After braking up she probably just couldn't afford the big city life anymore and went home, but it sounds like she just didn't want to move to a "flyover state" and was with him mostly because he's a fairly well off new yorker.

At about 18 mins in he talks about being .005 out of tolerance.

Thats the standard tolerance in Machining. Literally his engineers didn't spec the mechanicals correctly, and forgot to make it go one way (either +.005 or -.005, not the standard which is both).

Such a rookie mistake. A locking pin on a rachet isn't some unheard of engineering feat.
