It's a childish way of showing how better you are than somebody else. "I have more likes than you so I'm better" is what it boils down to. By that logic McDonald's makes the best burger because they have the most sales. Quality is not synonymous with quantity or popularity.
It's no different than when, in the schoolyard, you'd say something negative about somebody and they'd respond with, "not like you can do any better". What does that have to do with you sucking? Just because somebody can't do any better doesn't mean you don't suck at something.
Lucas is under the impression that because he gets more likes or thumbs up or whatever goes on in Twatterland that he's somehow better than the other person. All it means is he's more popular or more people agree on Twatter agree with him. It doesn't make him right.
Didn't Chris at one point try to make a Wiki page about himself because he was, in his own mind, a celebrity but they said he wasn't and took it down. Not that it matters because Wikipedia isn't what I'd consider to be a good example of journalism or anything as anybody can go on there and make any kind of change they want. Stephen Colbert proved that by having people go to the page for "Elephant" and say that they were either colored purple or orange. Eventually the page had to be locked because every time they'd revert it to gray somebody would change it back again.
