my money is that feds too tried to pull the same trick. they can ignore other governments, but not their own. remember this quote from the cloudflare statement:I'm surprised that Cloudfare decided to stick up for us by standing their ground and they've learned their lesson when they realized how much of a bad precedent this will set after they dropped both 8chan and The Daily Stomer back then (because after they dropped these two websites from using their services, they realize that this can also effect marginalized groups such as PoCs and the LGBT community later on becuase if 8chan or The Daily Stormer doesn't get free speech then guess what eventually those marginalized groups will be affected as well).
Reading Cloudfare's blogpost about how glowies from countries around the world wanted to shut down websites they find either a threat to their power or they find offensive shows me that at least Cloudfare is willing to stick up for the little guy in a world where both power hungry politicians and batshit crazy moral busybodies want to be the next Hitler or Stalin that want to control you for that matter.
"we have concluded in consultation with politicians, policy makers, and experts"
you honestly think the 'wholesome-and-hecking-cute-daddy-gov-can-do-no-wrong' and the sleaziest, power hungry folk in the world will pass on this, really? you bet your bottom feds went in with a long list of sites they want down, and
It became a headache, hence they decided to just give up. my 2 cents.
