I'd like to contribute some j-cows to the thread but they don't have any internet presence and I pretty much only browse English websites these days.
Not a cow as such, but does anyone remember the site Masamania?
Masa was a photographer who went to Waseda University and ran a site years ago where he documented among other things, local Tokyo lolcows and just random bizarre people or happenings and musings on Japanese culture/society etc, all with photos he took and amusing narration in his basic English.
I've found bits and pieces archived but haven't done a deep search lately.

Yeah this guy has a playlist of the guy. Hours and hours of videos. His vlogs, gaming, karaoke, some of the nuisance shit.

Okay so I'll talk about Syamu_Game/Hamazaki Jyunpei guy I posted on first post for you English speakers
Hamazaki Jyunpei(浜崎 順平) a.k.a Syamu_Game

I'll try to explain things as simple as possible, I'm not translating entire wiki page for this lolcow, so if you're interest in him, you can copy and paste it to deepL to dig up father more​

Basically he's one of the biggest lolcow in Japanese internet and I'll explain why first
He's a pathetic loser with huge ego, known by Japanese users for being retarded, lacking of common sense and still living with his parents despite being 38 years old

His life before Youtube​

He was born in 1984/03/04 and grown up in Kaizuka city(貝塚町), a city in Osaka. Has parents and few years old younger sister.
He graduated from the one of the most dumbest high school in osaka back in the day, Osaka Misaki highschool(大阪岬高校) then proceed to enroll to the computer engineering school. He find it difficult to learn anything from the school and eventually dropped out.
His parents were not happy about this and found some jobs for him.
He only ever had shitty part time jobs such as packaging work at the towel factory (jobs only require simple tasks like this is often used as mentally disabled people's workplace, and this dude was being cocky in there for not being as dumb as those people are) .
And even more worse, he has spent all money he got on the arcade game "Wangan Midnight" without thinking about how much money his parents wasted for him.

Start his career on NicoNico, Youtube(2010-2014)​

During late 2010, he started posting video of himself playing Wangan Midnight(which he really sucks ass despite he spent so much money on it) on NicoNico and also started uploading his videos on youtube at the same time period
During this era, he used to call himself "Shin(シン)" "Tsukikami(月神)"
It's important to mention that he never showed his face at all on his video at all during this era.
He was uploading commentary video of himself playing viral free games during that era and viewers already start noticing about his retarded way of speaking, retarded gameplay.

Face reveal, and renamed himself to "Syamu_Game"(2014-2015)​

During this era, people who's posting videos on youtube for living so called youtuber has become mainstream in Japan. Jynpei thought this is a great opportunity to be a successful eceleb and renamed himself to "Syamu_Game" and revealed his face. He was exposing his foolishness and ugliness throughout his videos without knowing it. He soon got noticed by the Internet and become part of "ironic" meme. (like that Morbius thing from reddit)
His ego was inflating and he had become confident enough to do in real life meetup at his local mall and the incident that changed his entire life occurered.
Here's few examples of his strange editing scheme(Yes, those are edited in his own)

オフ会0人/ "No one came to my meetup" incident(2014/08/11)​

As soon as he announced his meetup plan, many of the trolls decided to pretend as if they're Syamu_Game's true and honest fans. Commented that they're willing to join the meetup, some of them were even pretend to be women.(Syamu is always starving for sex despite still being virgin today)
And the day for the meetup has came, he drove his dad's car to the mall and waited for hours and hours. But yet, no one came to his meetup. This incident made him famous all over the Japanese internet and he ironically gained popularity from it. Many of Oto-Mad(YTPMV but from Japanese internet) and comically edited video has uploaded on both NicoNico and Youtube but he was never happy about it.

Heartbreak and lose access to the Internet(Late 2015-2017)​

Once he got widely recognized as a lolcow, many of in real life trolling ops has been done to him. One of the most infamous one was 難波土竜遺棄事件(December 13rd Nanba Station incident) where he got trolled by a user who claimed to be his female fan, made a promise to meet him at Nanba Station and kept him waiting in there for 7 straight hours. Chatlog between him and the troller has been leaked online. He had deleted his youtube channel after this incident but his reputation as lolcow was never been erased. After his retirement, he got his access to the Internet taken away by his parents.
He was even officially recognized by AEON Cinema(Japanese movie theater chain where the afromentioned incident took place) and they've made a post made fun of this incident.

Restart as Youtuber again and epically fail (2018-preasent)​

Since he's now one of the biggest lolcow on Japanese internet, some of his true and honest fans thought they can make money off from him. But it was not easy to let him out from his house and work with him as a youtuber since him and his parents were moved into a small island called Eda Island(江田島) which belongs to Hiroshima prefecture.
There was a first attempt during 2018 but it was failed because Syamu himself wasn't even allowed to go outside without permission from his parents.
In 2019, second attempt was made and Syamu managed to escape from his parents and left the island. That was a huge disaster which can't be summarized in this single post so I'll made it short and clear. Once he has arrived to Aichi, his new buddy let him live in his home and kindly gave him everything he needs to start his youtube career. Despite this, all he do was looking at phone screen, eat pizza then fap and shit then sleep, eventually syamu got conflict with his new buddy then left his house(by the way, Syamu didn't return any of the money costed for transportations, foods, Camera and microphone and etc).
But he had nowhere to go and got picked up by another random fan of him. Him and his buddy 2 stormed into the HQ of UUUM(Japan's biggest youtuber agaency) to see Hikakin and get rejected at front

After storming UUUM's HQ, new buddy 2 eventually left him, and yet again Syamu was picked up by the another fan.
He made several videos after this but it wasn't profitable at all despite having over 250,000 subscribers in first month from his new channel's creation.
He earned huge popularity by being unintentionally clown, but then he realized about it then all of his contents become boring piece of shits.
Then one of the troller from 5ch have done a bit of trolling, he transpassed into his parents house and took some pictures, stole an iPad then got caught by cops.
After this incident, he retired his career as youtuber AGAIN
And he went quiet for few years

2022​

Afromentioned lolcow named Hezuma Ryu(へずまりゅう) decided to collabo with him and somehow let him out from his house after few years of hikkikomori life, and did some collabo videos wih him. You can see it on my first post. This drama is currently going on and I'm keeping eyes on it

I'm pretty sure it's thanks to finding out about yaoi in particular that being gay is a huge thing in the West. Gonna be summarizing a few more interesting sorta celebcows in tokusatsu whenever I find the time. Like Quamdale said, Japanese lolcows are not as absurd as American or European ones. They're still quite funny though. Here's one of the more recent ones.


Tetsuo Kurata. Japs and Brazilians in their 30s might recognize him as the lead actor for Masked Rider BLACK. He wasn't interested in being an actor (He auditioned for the role in high school for the prize money) and after filming two seasons he moved on to opening a steakhouse where he charges people for autographs marketing how he used to be somebody 30 years ago.

After a reprisal of the role for a movie in 2015, he started to really capitalize on the apparent popularity he didn't realize he had in weirder and more exploitive ways. A fan sent him a life-sized statue of one of the characters he played, with the request it be kept privately and not used in his businesses as it was an unofficial creation and Kurata has some deal with Toei, so he shouldn't be profiting off of unofficial creations... it sits dead in the middle of his steakhouse.


He also started doing exclusive fan livestreams and events on Facebook where you could pay him to attend the livestreams... and he would then block the people who paid him, telling them they need to pay more to be unblocked.

Bear in mind, the streams are mostly just him sitting in a dark room putting on face filters and complaining about a lack of fans.


He's now got it in his mind he's owed daily gifts and payments by "real fans."


No sources for this particular note, but I recall he called netizens he disagreed with "zombies" on one stream, which kinda shows how he's viewing criticism. Nowadays he's called Masked Rider BLOCK for the blocking behavior. It's pretty funny.
