I honestly wonder if this speech blowback or maybe the speech itself has anything to do with Podesta being put in an advisory position, seemingly out of the blue. Podesta was a Hillary stooge which I think would indicate Biden is now getting whispers in the ear from her faction of the Dems as well.

I think people need to stop fantasizing/philosophizing on a hypothetical second civil war and start making a serious checklist on the people around them and their local security. People can spectate as much as they want about these online civil war hypotheticals, but if you are in the potential danger zone (which I assume most people on here are Americans) then realize if you don't prepare and things actually blow up then you are screwed.

Controversial to say but the further breakdown of the supply chain due to acute balkanization would be terrible, and before any LARPing can be done you better be sure you can feed yourself and your family first. Of course - if you are already self-sufficient, and have some sort of plan for what to do if things explode, then carry on.

Agreed. Almost all major ports are firmly in the hands of blue states. So this hypothetical war would have to be done almost entirely without international trade which is simply not possible in 2022 due to the outsourcing performed these last few decades. So balkanization would be devastating as well. That alone cripples any potential uprising but again, that’s just not going to happen anyway.

The best case scenario is that as the country gets browner and shittier, the entropy to keep globohomo neoliberalism going is too great and everything has to get scaled back, which means all those dozens of millions of natural conservatives will just go back south of the border once the spigot of endless gibs gets turned off or down. But unlike anime or video games, there will be no great moment of truth in the third act, they will just say the gibs are gone and then the brown masses/future Republican voters will leave.

Make it possible to have a 30 hour workweek be considered full-time employment with a full-time salary and then you’ll see caffeine abuse drop.

That meme could work to lower unemployment numbers since there will be a need for more people to fill in the work hours lost, though I expect the same people employed to work the same hours anyway. I’m sure companies would just decide to eat the overtime cost and lay some people off to afford it if whatever government bill deciding that 30 hours is the standard for an honest work week has more regulatory fluff in it that makes it harder and more expensive to do anything especially when it comes to raw materials.

Here’s what I think: China told Biden to send all our weapons to Ukraine (see posts by @Jet Fuel Johnny ) and is subtly pushing the Biden White House into extremism with strategically placed assets. The person who wrote this speech and designed the lighting is almost certainly a Chinese asset.

I believe their thinking is if they can push us into a hot civil war, they can overtake us economically and take back Taiwan. Obviously, my desire for my state to leave the union plays into their hands but, frankly, they’re an enemy on the other side of the globe. California is a much more clear and present danger to me and my family.

There are actually some very useful ports still in Florida, Texas and Louisiana that could be used to export and import. Those could be used to trade the things the rural states can produce, like food.

Meanwhile the ports in New York would be ready to offload, uh...what exactly? Those big cities might have access to imaginary computer numbers and physical fiat currency, but how much will that be worth to foreign trading partners when the issuing nation is in turmoil? What exactly will these cities produce to trade for food and material- the factories that drew people there 100 years ago are gone, nothing is 'made' in New York anymore except bespoke artisanal fashion which will not suffice to make an economy. So how much Russian grain do you think the gemstone halls of the Smithsonian or the Vermeers of the Met will buy?
