Oh no, I broadly agree. I've known some good ones, but it's the same problem with drugs and real wiggerness. The good-to-bad ratio may be different, just from a different, more German gene pool, but the culture is the same. Pretty much good ol' boys drinkin', fightin', and fuckin' because nothing else to do.
The earlier post about the women is pretty spot on too. There's some more Anglo influenced smoke shows but also bat shit insanity, there some that the extra bit of German in the region bringing out the bits of Nordic in the Scots-Irish gene pool and you'll get and Aryan Princess, but they're mostly broad chested and stocky and they'll blow up like a balloon after illegitimate kid number one. The stocky woman/meth skinny man pairing is common.
Pretty much this. There's a reason why I'm bigoted towards my own people and why I do not and will never consider the Scots-Irish to be White.
I do consider Italians, Greeks, French, European Spaniards/Spanish Criollos, and even Slavs and Sicilians to be White. But I will never ever give that honor to the Scots-Irish/Ulster Scots.
As far as I'm concerned, Africa ends at the Sahara and it starts right back up all over again at Hadrian's Wall.
Even if you consider border reivers to be White, both me and my mom are still mixed race since my Papaw (RIP) was a swarthy dark brown Melungeon. So I ain't White except in a legal sense.
Papaw may not have been White* but he still was a good man and I still miss him.
*-Papaw's birth certificate listed him as White but that's because a lot of Melungeon families lied to the US Census about their ancestry when the One-Drop laws began to be implemented.
For context, the Melungeons are a tri-racial ethnic community of mostly black, Scots-Irish, and Native American origins in central Appalachia (namely Southwestern Virginia, Eastern Kentucky, and Northeastern Tennessee) whose origins can be traced back to both freed and escaped blacks from Colonial Virginia heading into the Appalachian Mountains and intermingling with both the Injuns and especially the earliest Scots-Irish settlers.
In 1935, a reporter from the New York Times infamously referred to the Melungeons as "straight-haired Mulattoes", which is a rather apt description.
Most of the Melungeons would claim to either be of Turkish origin or claim to be Portuguese Basques (often with elaborate backstories involving Basque sailors in the Spanish Armada settling in Ireland to explain why all these brown people had Celtic surnames) since both Basques and Turks were legally classified as White under the One Drop laws. That way, they weren't subject to the restrictions that the blacks and Injuns were put under.
Race sperging aside, I'm just glad I no longer live in Appalachia.
