I'm not sure if this is really the case, in a lot of IT and geeky spheres I've seen a constant deluge of woke nonsense, the migration of groomed zoomers into the sphere and the old guard turning woke - they were usually always liberal to begin with, just what defined liberal changed and they shifted to match it.

It is true though that you will occasionally see people in them that have enough presence of mind to avoid indoctrination, but unfortunately in most spheres that I have seen those people get pushed out, either through being made so unwelcome that they leave of their own accord or through the insecure iron fist of a janny shoving them out, leaving only the indoctrinated to marinate in their own zealotry.

To be fair though, a good deal of geeks these days are amateurs and imitators, wanting to look cool by affiliation yet not being good at programming at all and lacking in a lot of technical knowledge, primarily only programming for woke meme languages like Rust. The infamous "Soydev" archetype.
