We produce a lot of fertilizer here, we can get potash from Canada, and anyways we haven't suffered big droughts or pest swarms like a lot of the rest of the world has.

Not to mention, the appointment of Lina Khan was supposed to be a big antitrust move from the Biden administration, specifically targeted at tech. She has the chops and qualifications for it, and a career that suggested to many observers that a noticeable, meaningful techlash was finally coming (Congress is too old and retarded to use a VHS, and so was never going to meaningfully bust them). She's managed to achieve very very little, because despite her credentials and the resources at her disposal, the tech companies all work in tandem with each other to frustrate legislation or regulation that might see their absurd fucking overhead and diagonal monopolies (dat mean both vertical and horizontal lolol) have to get parsed apart. There was also some hope that with the Biden admin generally more friendly to unions that you'd see unionization drives break up how a lot of these companies outsource a shitton of their work / contract a lot else to pay less, but again, they just coordinate better, lobby a little, and nothing much happens.
