We're basically whatever boogie man a lolcow wants us to be. I've seen this site described as being specifically targeting transgender people, black crowdfunders, disabled people, etc by lolcow transgender people, black crowdfunders, and disabled people. It's like they see their thread (or just the first page) and just automatically assume that the entire site is like that.
There have been surveys done to determine forum population breakdowns and we're pretty across the board in terms of sex, political orientation, and sexual orientation. Of course, there are areas of the forum that are more heavy in one or more demographics (Beauty Parlor is obviously gonna be more women, A&H is a far right playground). KF is in its purest essence a gossip site, but because we're diverse and don't police our wording as strongly as say, Reddit, we're considered bad people. I've also had lolcows constantly call me a dude when they get tipped to my threads (fml) and I don't know if it's because they just assume that everyone that shitposts is male or because my usual avatar is of an anime gunman.
Alison really needs to get the stick out of her ass. If she wants to be seen as an "Internet celebrity" then she needs to accept that people will gossip and share her stuff. I know she won't. But that's her reality that she's rejecting to try to substitute for her own..
