Seems a little pop-psychology to me, the urge to behave in a way that's more "masculine" could well be physiological as a result of sensitization to testosterone during fetal development that leads to more aggressive behavior. Just empirically it doesn't feel like you're "taught" to act male, I often point out that many significant male figures in history were raised by single mothers, in cases like Genghis Khan sometimes in total isolation.
