Yeah most of Europe is more conservative regarding how many weeks out you can get an abortion.

There is a problem though when it comes to the wording of the abortion bills in place in the US as it can theoretically be argued that the language is vague in a lot of the bills to help rule out abortion even in cases where it'd save the life of the mother. So if someone wanted to engage in a bit of malicious compliance with those laws they can say they can't help save a woman's life and help make the laws look bad.

It's similar to when you had teachers annoyed with anti-CRT bills wanting to teach about how the Nazis may have had the right idea, because "hey the bill says we can't teach that anyone is wrong lol".

Democrats could try proposing some abortion laws that'd do limits like you see in Europe, while also helping provide services and protect access to abortion before that cut-off date, but it's just a losing gambit for them. Their main talking point for decades is that even a day prior to a baby being born you should be allowed to suck the fucker out and stick the fetus in a blender and puree the babe. If Democrats proposed any bill to ensure abortion was accessible to women it'd mean admitting that Republicans hadn't reduced women to living in the Handmaiden's Tales.

Still the fact is that Graham's bill is retarded, it goes against the popular Republican position of leaving these issues up to the states, it'd annoy die-hard pro-lifers who want no abortion, and it annoys the pro-choicers who want no limits on abortion. It'd be better to leave it up to Democrats to try making concessions to get what they want and stick to going on TV to complain about how obstinate Democrats are about not wanting to concede anything even if it results in women's health being in jeopardy.

Fifth circuit court has filed in NetChoice v Paxton that corporations don't get the first amendment right to violate other people's first amendment rights, so the Texas law on social media censorship gets to stand.

Well that was a mess with the extra posts (still groggy from a nap and going full boomer on here).

Need to read through everything, but the filing is pretty entertaining for much it's annoying people with the free speech arguments.
