Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

Hard to keep up with CG without the thread.

So Smiller welcomed back into CG now? Shane Davis didn't like this and was openly rude during his Kangz appearance. Shane is kind of weird to take his side or whatever but I guess it's interesting.

Smiller's latest effort outside of NFTs is finally releasing the long done "Shadow of the Conqueror" comic. Shadiversitys written book turned comic with a million sub youtube channel to promote it is only at $216k. Compared to Eric July cruising around 500k subs and magnitudes more funding into his new IP I can only imagine people want new properties to rally their culture war dollars behind. I didn't back either so looking forward to this comparison in particular once the books land in backers hands.

Eric July closed out his campaign at $3.7 Mil? Seems like it hit 3.4 and coasted to the finish line. I'd attribute this to the FOMO and different covers selling out at the beginning of the campaign. Why he didn't save an "Exclusive" for the last day or something I don't understand. Usually crowdfunds have two big days, The opening and the closing. Of course July has proved everyone wrong by dollar value alone, so I'll just wait to see how his writing turns out before I dare criticize him, or the Rippaverse gatekeepers who've yet to materialize (Or have they?).

Cecil has been going through a divorce. When he was living at his "Sisters" was that his own house? That he then moved out of? With the face reveal and the Divorce thing it's only begs more questions. I guess most importantly does he need another two years to deliver Cashgrab? Fun to speculate since a divorce will hold up your book, but wont stop you from having enough money to fly around the world being TSWG's purse puppy.

No telling how long we'll be back up, has anyone found another place to discuss CG?

I think Shane went out of line there. It is one thing to rib eachother, but he was outright disrespectful.
Sure, Smiller did some stupid shit but you have to learn to forgive and forget or else you are no better than the twitter weirdos. If he regrets his shit and wants to come back, then let him.
I am sure if smiller fucks up again they will promptly kick him out again.

Smiller is a get rich quick schemer. And i don't mean in that he's a scammer, but that he drops all long term goals for whatever he thinks will give him a few dollars today, which invariably leads to hare brained business decisions (I could fulfill my 100K campaign and gets started on the next one for another 100k paycheck sometime in the next six months to one year, OR, I can not work on my comic and instead sell pinup commissions and do art auctions to make a hundred dollars TODAY).

It's a shame, because he's actually a really fast artist, but he just can't seem to commit to anything that doesn't give him an extremely short term payout.

I don't think i would ever back anything he does again, BUT, Smiller makes for an excellent whipping boy, precisely because he takes himself so seriously. I don't mind him being in streams every now and then (like Liam), but he can promote his stuff on his own channel.

You have to keep in mind that Smiller was comicsgate because he was running out of places to go. Shane had a job and was not cancelled, but came over to cg because he believed they were right and mainstream comics were behaving poorly. So it's possible that to Shane its a big deal that Smiller grifted/didnt fulfill/talked mad shit about everyone after he left. I'm not saying he's right or wrong, but looking at it from Shane's perspective it makes more sense. He gave up a safe career for what he believes is a good cause and theres this other dude seemingly trying to scheme and scam. His bluntness made it more funny to watch anyways.

Also, Davis may fear that any Miller comeback might push him further to the background. Say what you will about Miller, but he had probably the best chemistry with VanSciver when they were streaming together.

Smiller went on a few slumtown CG streams to clarify that he's not coming back and was received with mild indifference. Which is somewhat interesting in of itself because two years ago many of the same slum dwellers were the ones zealously hounding Mike over leaving Comicsgate two years, but these days are now content to hang out with Mike. Smiller argues that Shad and his access to the FNT circuit trump the alleged benefits of any CG affiliation in the year of 2022. Which, given that SotQ:EoS has just surpassed the biggest CG campaign of 2022 (the Rekt Planet 2nd chance campaign), is not an easily dismissed argument.

September 2022 is so the highest grossing month this year, with Frog launching seven campaigns on his channel within three weeks. The beginning of September started off strong (as noted in this thread), with Strychalski, Lopresti and Smith all setting new personal records, which I took at the time as a sign for optimism.

But by the time Narwhal's latest outing of a bunch of shitty grab bag of doodles over AI prompt backgrounds and Frog's latest 2nd chance crowdfund for an unfulfilled campaign launched, signs of fatigue started to show. Following these was the launch of oar proponent Jon Malin's Graveyard Shift: Omega Storm and Mike Baron's Private American, where the bottom of the floor has fallen out.

While the argument could be made that this could be due to a poor reception of GYS4 and customers rejecting it, or the extremely lazy, entitled half-assed level of promotion that Malin put in leading up to this, neither of those explanations would account for Mike Baron's Private American, launched a few days after GYS4, having an even more dramatic plummet of support despite being generally well-received. The remaining conclusion is that Frog's channel has (at least temporarily) been tapped out.

This leaves Jon "build your platform" Malin with the unenviable task of using his platform and his personality to sell his comic without Frog doing it for him. Left to his own devices, Malin quickly launched some low energy chillstreams with his usuals Captain Chokeout and Matt Yackey and as of this writing his campaign has stalled out at day 2.

I dont think Shane Davis went to CG to "fight for the cause". That may have been a reason, but its pretty far down the list. Davis went to CG for the same reasons a lot of these creators went(Aaron Lopresti, Graham Nolan, Dan Fraga, etc.) he saw the big money others were making and he was smart enough to see the writing on the wall that work for him was eventually going to dry up due to the mainstream not wanting to pay him what he is worth. The mainstream can get some (insert minority) to do the work for a lot less, and then hide behind the (insert minority)'s identity when criticized for their deviant art tier work.
Also, Davis may fear that any Miller comeback might push him further to the background. Say what you will about Miller, but he had probably the best chemistry with VanSciver when they were streaming together.
Davis could be mindful of this, especially since he is prone to go on some very boring monotone "rants" or "story telling". The kind that when he is finished @FROG is just like "Um ok... Anyways, lets look in on these campaigns". I dont think Davis has to worry though. Smiller and Frog can have good entertaining back and forths, but I dont think it is something they can sustain on a weekly basis and should only do it every once in a while. Also, one smart thing Smiller has done(maybe the only one) is being friendly with CG, but "officially" staying out of CG.

Alright, so @Captain Manning was right about my attempt start a refuge thread over on the Grifts and Gamers forum. It was really gay over there.
Aren't they still butthurt over @FROG making fun of Az and the other Nerdrotic hangers on? And here I was thinking carrying grudges like eighth grade girls was something only Ess-Jay-Dubyas do. 🙄

FWIW, last time I looked the Geeks & Gamers forum was completely dead anyway. Maybe ten posts in three days or something.

Have they talked about how this campaign is getting fulfilled at all? Since Shad is in Australia shipping to the US and Europe would be murder if he was going to try to do it on his own, but if it isn't coming out of 'Straya he's ceding a lot of control.

BTW, does anyone know if everybody's favorite ginger has talked about this book at all? And if he is still claiming to be Numero Uno in 'Strayan comics?

Smike is more or less doing everything in the campaign except for the shilling (including the adaptation of the book itself into a script), which I imagine was a big selling point for Shad Brooks hopping on board.

@Mister Dongs Just read that Dale Keown breakdown. I had no idea about that as I don't normally pay attention to the CG B-Team. What an absolute shitshow. If CG are "The Gang" from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Dale is Cricket.

If there's one thing I'll never understand about this thread it's the massive blind spot a lot of you seem to have toward Smiller.
Spoiler alert: he doesn't regret shit. He literally doesn't possess the cognitive capacity for regret. Prior to the year 1992 Mike S Miller would have been considered clinically retarded. Retards can still be decent people if they have strong values. Mike doesn't.
He briefly toyed with the idea of coming back to CG because he has nowhere else to go. In the end, he seems to have decided against it. A mutual addition through subtraction.
I have no idea what Shane did or said but I'm sure it was warranted, the same way a man squashing an insect in his home is warranted regardless of weather he uses a shoe or a rolled up magazine. What stream did this happen on anyway? Sounds entertaining.

on Frog’s stream. He uploaded it a couple days ago, good stuff.

Also, I am happy to see that Rippa is keeping his promise to deliver his books on time. It’s a refreshing thing to see when compared to other campaigns.

Also, seeing Malin’s campaign underperform made me laugh. I’m hoping it sends a message to other CG creators about the quality and delivery time of their books.

There's too much kino content to waste too much time on CG. I popped in to see if ComiksGate was still homosexual and probably retarded.

With the second coming of DamePesos and glorious leader sitting down with Daddy Jim, I have found myself moved by the level of providence.

Does God not raise up the his follower? And then when he becomes smug, lower him? Then of course raise him to own the fags in CG once again?

Miller's life is a never ending wheel of good fortune marred by subsequent stupidity. How's he gonna fuck up this time?

Sounds legit as a comparison. Cricket starts out in Sunny a respectable, Godly man who is sober and decent. Then by the time the gang is done he's a drug addict bum who will literally lick bird crap for crack money.

Dale went from industry legend to drunk simp cooming over an old e-thot.

turns out that overall, the CG faithful have rejected the teachings of SMiller And don’t really want him back on EVS’s show. So EVS has gone on record saying that the only time people will him and SMiller on stream will be on JDA’s stream and they have been speaking on there for a couple months now.

I think his Shad book is a one trick pony and if he deviates from glomming onto other bigger YouTubers, his campaigns are going to shit.

Do people really have a love/hate opinion on Smiller due to his CG alliance?

Plenty to criticize Smiller on, but WC used to put dildos all over his face in the name of CG, he's got every right to keep his distance and probably should if people who have never talked to him i.e. Shane Davis have such a strong opinion on him. It's almost an SJW move.

Everything Im hearing about ISOM is that the writing is decent to good. Customers are getting their books, and most are looking forward to the next issue.

Given that July spends alot of time on Twitter fighting people, he's got some kinda victimhood complex for at least his customers and employees, and his preview at the end of ISOM, Im calling July the other side of the SJW coin. To Qoute Nieche:

He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you.

Behold! Rippaverse's next comic:

scrnli_9_29_2022_10-44-23 PM.png

NORSE AFRICA

It's about a band with Superpowers or some shit. I know some suspected Rippa of doing a self insert with ISOM, but I guess he was saving that for later.

scrnli_9_29_2022_10-46-45 PM.png

SJWs do comics about Rock and Roll bands. They fight with people all day on twitter, and they have a victim complex.
scrnli_9_29_2022_10-55-03 PM.png

Given that you charged your fans with "Gatekeeping" the Rippaverse I find it somewhat ridiculous your crying foul about "Harassment" when you encouraged harassing behavior from your fans!

YoungSJWRippa is just the right leaning version of the SJW coin. Good job on the book otherwise. Can't wait for your Kim and Kim , Jem and the Holograms ripoff.

Malin decided to pick that oar back up after a while of ignoring it to have a comicsgate presents stream. I'm sure this is only to help others and in no way has anything to do with Malin's current underperforming campaign.
Regardless of Malin's intentions, Frog decided to stream as well. Frog claims he didn't know Malin was going to stream. It is believable that he didn't know, but he continued to stream concurrently anyways. Also, both of these streams are right during Friday Night Tights.
