We also have had threads on Wulfgar von Whatever the fuck his name is, Homer, and Matthew Hopkins. It's not like we avoid GG spergs, it's just that there's generally fewer of them that are both bug-fuck insane enough and productive enough to support an actual thread making fun of them. I'm idly surprised that Ethan Ralph of the Ralph Retort hasn't gotten a thread TBH, but that's neither here nor there.
Honestly though, this shit's a weird one, even by the staggering standards of what we've seen over the last year and a half.
It has fuck all to do with GG (it started because people were simply pointing out the obvious that
maybe someone who works in the PR for a company that bills itself as family-friendly might be curious about the fact that it has someone in its employ who proudly has a tradition of defending traffickers of Child Porn and arguing that ownership of it shouldn't be illegal), but once again, we have another example of how no matter what it is, if it inconveniences one of these fucks in any way that can remotely be construed as having anything to do with Gamergate, it will, almost without exception, be construed as being so. Even Rapp herself is trying to say this whole thing is Gamergate:
Needless to say: The usual Anti-GG communities are in out-and-out damage-control mode over this trying to argue that this poor NPO was bamboozled by that evil Gooberdegrab and they're clearly being used by evil misogynerd shitlords. The response by Anti-GG has been unilaterally
fucking hilarious, ranging from outright apologia to spergtastic shrieking at the NPO in question. The best ones have been the ones that stumble into self-awareness, realize what's going on, and then
immediately get lynched by their fellows. This isn't a GG issue, it's a
lolcow issue, and the usual suspects are playing their parts amicably.
Meanwhile, however, GG-supporting communities seem to be a little torn on it.
There's four general viewpoints on it:
ONE: The most common response, from the likes of KIA and similar has been one along the lines of:"none of our fucking business," and focusing on the more important shit (in their eyes) of the ongoing boycotts, Torrential Downpour, and similar Gamergate activist tomfoolery. This likewise seems to be the viewpoints of prominent GGers on Twitter.
TWO: There's a large contingent who've grabbed themselves popcorn and are watching this because the prospect of seeing these unpleasant fucks get a taste of their own medicine is fucking irony served cold. Anti-GGers have called for firings, de-platformings, and blacklistings for way smaller offenses, and it's
especially great given how many of them shriek about how "8chan is all about CP" because of one incident by Dan Olson, yet when one of their own gets caught fucking defending pedophilia, they fall over themselves trying to dismiss it as not a big deal.
THREE: There's a contingent that are trying to help actively signal boost it. This seems to be the general response of the GGRevolt crowd and the ones who realize that there's basically no consequences for doing it, given that Rapp and friends are going to blame Gamergate no matter the outcome, so best to at least have the fun of doing what you're getting blamed for.
FOUR: There's a surprisingly large section of the GG-supporting community that have
condemned this occurence. Whilst I'm convinced that there's probably some idiot or another that thinks that Rapp didn't do anything wrong, the bulk of the condemnation seems to be more along the lines of not wanting to "stoop to their level" and use the same tactics the Antis have used since this whole faggotry began. I can kind of understand that one.
Honestly, this is
fucking amazing. I haven't been this darkly fascinated by some nonsense like this since Eli got sent to Israel.
