I think Barb was shocked at how much Chris paid for a prostitute. As people get older, they often seem to lose an understanding of inflation and the value of money. So when Chris paid $150, Barb saw that the way you or I would see $1500.

I think you're right. Barb recently turned 81 (Oct 1st) and may have only a couple of years left. Chris has shown what he thinks of her and frankly that house seems much more important to him.
If Barb got a reverse mortgage, that would cinch it. I hope she does, if she hasn't already.

She didn't get a reverse mortgage, but she did re-mortgage the house. They now have payments to make every month to keep the house because she just had to have a big lump sum to spend on goodwill crap.

Dont get me wrong Im sure we'll see some saddened input from chris that his slampiece is out of the picture but his most recent letters to Kengle were trying to organize something to get her put away forever or at least get her out of 14 BC, clearly mad that she won't uproot herself so chris could play with his rocks.
Im sure he was also getting tired of caring for her before all this, too.

Well, Chris is first a foremost, a liar, in pretty much everything he says. Then again, from his letters about Barb being not all there, for years, coupled with how slowly he picks up on things, it could have been Barb was just out of it years and years ago, and it wasn't until she was really gone, that Chris finally noticed. We have no idea of Barb's mental health, and are only taking the word of someone who has no capacity for cues or anything else unless it's crammed in his face.

We also have to take into account that Chris was starved for human attention, even in his 30s. While speculating, and acknowledging that the rapes were 100% on Chris, one could make the argument that Chris just had to blab about what was going on, but spin it in a way where it just wasn't his doing.

Chris is far gone enough that if Barb dies he will cope with it by deluding himself into believing she is alive in the meme world and has become a Barbiechu. Cope is maybe not the right word though, rather it will clear his conscience so that he can justify in his mind the reasons why he wants Barb to die in order to live in his house again.
