I read “I’m glad my mom is dead”, by Jennette McCurdy over our recent break.
Her mom, Debra, showered and bathed her until she as was 18, so mom could “get hair washing right”. She’d also did breast and. genital inspections, looking for cancer. (Mom was in remission) She divided the family with her moods, had kids take sides. She taught her 11 year old daughter how to restrict calories so she’d stay small and could play younger roles. She was a hoarder. Most of all, she wanted a famous daughter, even though Net hated acting, and mom pushed her into it. She didn’t feel like she could ever say no to her mom and mom used her cancer to get her way. And it wasn’t until her mom died and she went to therapy for eating disorders that she started realizing that it had been abuse. As a kid, you think your family is normal and a narc mom who favors you makes you scared and weak.
The Jennings kids have a super inappropriate mom too-watching the Bachelor with your shirtless adult son is the tip of the iceberg we know about, with Jazz’s mutilation the culmination of that iceberg. I sure hope Ari and Griff get out, Jazz and Sander are stuck. Jeanette seems healthy and won’t be dying any time soon so kids can get perspective without her around.
Anyway, it was interesting to read about dynamics I’m sure happened with Jazz too, only with much more drastic results.

The jennings have shit genes in general, hair loss, weird nose, strabismus, every one of them has a weird physical defect. It's good that Sander and Jazz can't reproduce because it means less ugly children, now we need to see how it goes with Ari and Griffen tho.
