I'm both happy and worried that Poland has decided that the main issue is lack of nukes in East Europe, exactly as I posted a number of times in these threads. It's only nukes that are enough deterrence.
I don't think the US will give East EU nukes though, because it's too much escalation (especially at this time), and also because Polish officials have been a bit too enthusiastic.
We need to retvrn to cold, pragmatic and unemotional politicians. Nuclear war and war of any kind is not a tool for elections and for propping up cheap patriotism in your country.

I would take the lack of starbucks and uber eats in Russia over something like Detroit, Philly or Chicago. I don't know if you ever left the US and visited Europe but even remote medium sized cities in Russia are pretty similar to cities around central and eastern Europe when it comes to infrastructure and development.

I only support intact national borders and peace. I haven't posted once inflammatory, hateful crap about either side. I sympathize with Ukraine because I sympathize with invaded countries in general and with nationalists, even when the US was kicked out of Afghanistan I reluctantly considered it a good thing, simply because it's not their country to implement liberalism upon.
If actual nukes go off we're all likely done for, and I don't think Putin is half that unhinged, plus he'll get lynched by his younger staff that still wants to live if he tried, I'd hope.
A nation cannot be expected to pay with its lands for peace and safety, especially one as Ukraine which is not guilty of invading and colonizing anyone.
Modern European states are expected to NOT chimpout and act like civilized Europeans, and go to the diplomatic table, have talks, and use the international courts we set up for a reason, to NOT go to war on a large scale against each other, ever again.
Russia wants to play by its own rules. It should stop everything and go back inside its borders, lick its wounds, and let this insanity die off.
