Western Animation - Discuss American, Canadian, and European cartoons here (or just bitch about wokeshit, I guess)

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
We finally got our first look at Owl House Season 3
I can physically smell that audience just from their reactions.
Hair dye and obesity as far as the nose can sense.
And I know Norville is actually his name, but why couldn't they call him Shaggy? Because of the rapper? Shaggy would just use the Shaggy Defense anyway ("It wasn't me").
Near as I can tell Shaggy seems to be fairly chilled. He does the odd bit of charity stuff here and there but he doesn't get into internet slap fights over a white stoner that is a year younger than him..

Imagine releasing your trailer for a self-insert remake on the same day as the Mario trailer.

Fucking - OOF.

The animation for the Mario movie is gorgeous. Chris Pratt is...well, he's Chris Pratt. Slight (very slight) Brooklyn accent if you listen carefully, but otherwise about what I expected. Bowser is gonna carry the movie, I feel.

If Yoshi isn't voiced by Arnold Schwarzenegger, I'm rioting.

Honestly, I thought this would turn out really bad, like cutting your wrist bad and wishing for death badly, but this looks a lot better than I suspected.
Sure Christ is barely doing a Mario impression, but the jokes are alright, and the animation actually looks good.
Maybe the film will be good... I hope.

Well you awful lot have made me us the horrifying over the last couple of pages so let's try something wholesome again. I actually found out about this last week but got distracted.

As has already been brought up a few times in the thread Mysterious Cities of Gold was a thing that released back in 1982. I'm not going to embed the intro for the dozenth time but it was an okay show with some interesting nuance in its plots for the age range, an okay soundtrack and some genuinely dark shit. It was a French/Japan project and a lot of the work was done by a little place known as Studio Pierrot. They're still going, muddling along with minor projects that most will never have heard of (this is sarcasm).

30 years later it got a sequel series. And yes, it was a sequel. The plot followed on from the original with the same storyline and characters. It was not great but it was good and the fact that someone greenlit a sequel show for people old enough to have children of their own of a similar age to when they watched it was kind of entertaining. The second season was followed by a third a few years later.

And now the 4th is confirmed. According to Wikipedia it premiered on RTS1 which is a television channel in Switzerland specifically targeting the French speakers of the country.
One of several langage public broadcasters of SRG-SSR.

I do not know who was behind this show getting 3 more seasons after the original but I have to assume it's some insanely committed fan who dedicated 3 decades to getting into a position to arrange a continuation and has now put another 10 years of their career into getting to a finale.
At least they made their dreams happen. More than could be said for us Americans.

Fred's a dork.
Daphne looks fuckable.
And Norville, not touching that.

Pure cringe. I remember when everyone thought this show was gona be a horror adventure story instead of being a blatant Little Witch Academia rip-off with yuri pandering & was gona be better than Amphibia back when they were initially revealed.

i thought that ended already? did they take that long to make the last one or did twitter trannies tantruming really get them to make another season of an unprofitable show?

It's only getting three 44-minute specials for the entire season which is its last one, one airs this month and the rest air next year. The show is pretty much on its last legs.
