It's more akin to say, you are a landlord and some loony is yelling in a public plaza at everyone present that one of your tenants, a mean bastard, is running a meth lab in the apartment they rented from a building you own and that no one should rent you an apartment because you are knowingly doing business with a drug dealer and if fact support it. It's complete bullshit, of course. But that tenant is not cooking meth, he is just an mean bastard that likes to keep a record of the very strange and sketchy, in a few cases straight up illegal, activities of a collection of loonies, abusers and grifters. That's not illegal, a bit odd for sure, but legal and absolutely hated by this group of people and their fragile egos.
But that's something only you, the landlord, might possibly know, not the average Joe, or normie if you will, that is listening to the crazy person in the plaza. All he is hearing is that there is a meth lab in your building, he is definitely not going to do business with you and rent one of the apartments from your building. At that point you as the landlord have a few options:
A) Evict the mean bastard, without checking if what the loony is saying is true. This is the fastest and easier way, it fixes the problem right away before more people hear about it but you have shown to the lunatics that you will give in to the right amount of pressure and will toe their line, therefore in the future you have to be careful to not overstep that line or it's the same shit all over again.
B) You engage the lunatic and their bullshit, the mean bastard doesn't cook meth you know it. This might seem to be the smarter option, it's certainly the most cathartic if the lunatic has been saying all sort of bullshit about your building and yourself. You might convince a few normies that the loony is full of shit but you have to remember you are engaing with a crazy person in the middle of a public plaza, that's not the best optics, especially for a landlord and his business.
C) You ignore the ramblings of the madman. This might not seem like the best idea at the short term but in the long run it's the best, after all it's a just madman saying a bunch of bullshit, right? Yet, people are hearing about it and there are some entities or actors that are currently amplifying the rambling of this lunatic and giving him a platform too, it could be very well the death sentence of your business. But, you must remember that you are dealing with a demented person here, sooner rather than later, he is going to say or do some shit that's going to alienate the people that believe him and once supported his ramblings. Still, that's not all, the normies are soon going to forget about it as well, and it will be back to be business as usual for you, with them renting your apartments once again.
