They were trying desperately to win the space race and wanted to keep the window open as long as possible.
To my knowledge (and presented without citation..I know, I know), they didn't even begin to care about the space race at first. They thought Kennedy was a loon for trying to make it seem like they
did care, at the time.
If the moon landings were faked, then that means the US/(SR) were never enemies, but rather two massive wings of the same bird.
Both have been owned by the same people as any other Western nation since the end of the last great war (some owned sooner than others). You already figured out the way to the answer for your own conundrum here.
Also, your choice in analogy might better serve your own research if you replace "wings" with "heads" and see where that takes you. Very highly amusing you just happened to choose that image for anyone who's been doing this shit long enough to know their symbols.
basically there is a effort to turn all discussion about [anything inconvenient to a widely-pushed narrative] into unreadable garbage so people stop trying to do their own research
Well-poisoning, as someone else eluded to. It's a very effective technique for shutting down conversation, yeah.
I think this also ties in with the, as it's known on the internet, Mr. Smith effect. In the former's case, you have people deliberately and maliciously trying to shit things up. In the case of the latter, however, you have the people who already drank the Kool-Aid keeping the charade going. Typically, this is done via social pressures (mass media) to people prone to anxiety. You'll notice that anxiety-based "disorders" are allegedly rather common in today's Western world. There might be a reason people get pushed in that direction..
..That reason may
also be why your food is effectively poisoned (see the post about high fructose corn syrup as a great example), why your media contains constant themes of inadequacy and emasculation, and why you have never-ending divisiveness (but never directed towards those responsible) shoved in your face.
