Then (Q57) Dr Wren is asked if GIDS have thought about offering cross-sex hormones to younger patients. She answers that "Mermaids put it on the agenda for us all the time and are very unhappy about our sticking to the international guidelines"
Dr Wren continues (Q64) saying that GIDS disagree with Susie Green's ideas for 'fast-track' access to blockers & hormones: "We feel that is not an ethical way to practise, and this is a sticking point between us and Mermaids".
Later, Susie Green describes her US-style 'fast-track' service: if you say on the phone you've already had some counselling, you can get blockers/hormones at your first in-person appointment. Hormones will start at 'an appropriate age' which for Mermaids means 'around 15 years old'

Trans charity worker ‘posed as schoolgirl in explicit pictures’
Darren Mew is said to have taken part on a photo shoot for a gay magazine

Parents of children who have used the transgender youth charity Mermaids have complained to the watchdog after a worker posted explicit images and sexualised pictures “as a schoolgirl” online.
Darren Mew, digital engagement officer at the children’s charity and who identifies as “they/them”, posted an image of himself on Instagram with an upwards view through his short skirt with the words “Sorry I can’t hear you. I’m just out here living my fantasy” and the hashtag “nonbinaryfinery”.
Mew was also featured in a collage of six pictures of himself naked, holding his erect penis, from the rear and with pairs of breasts with penises protruding from them for a shot for Haus Magazine, an LGBT publication.

The worker lists himself on LinkedIn as the digital engagement officer at Mermaids . Mew has featured in campaign material for the charity, and until recently on the Mermaids website under a staff profile saying: “Darren joined Mermaids in 2021. They have many years of experience working in the LGBT+ and charity sectors, and believe in the power of community and bringing people together.
“When they aren’t working, you’ll often find them reading magazines, watching videos or at a drag show.”
Mew was nominated for a positive role model award at the 2020 National Diversity Awards. As digital engagement officer, Mew’s role could involve attending residential weekends.
The image of Mew wearing a skirt was on his public Instagram page and was posted in February last year. The other collage image was tweeted by the magazine in 2020. Mew has made the Instagram profile private within the past few days. A parent whose daughter was once a user of Mermaids said that she had serious safeguarding concerns about Mew, given the explicit content and his role at the charity which enables him to attend residential events.
She said in her complaint to the Charity Commission that in the pictures, Mew was “seemingly hairless like a young boy… the graphic clearly presents the imagery of amputated breasts. In another Darren wears a Hentai style schoolgirl skirt and adopts a provocative pose and appears to be broadcasting sexualised little girl vibes.” She called for an investigation.
Last week Jacob Breslow, one of Mermaids’ trustees, quit after it emerged that he was linked to an organisation that aims to help paedophiles “live in truth and dignity”.

I'm not sure if you guyses detective work was the thing to help bring Mew to the papers but I'd like to think it is. The only bad part is not getting paid for it.

Darren Mew is in the Daily Mail today as well (dailymail.co.uk, archive.ph). It includes a lengthy statement from Mermaids, but here's what they said about Mew:

Don't get me wrong, it is reassuring that Mermaids consider this a sackable offence - not a universal opinion among UK troons it seems! But considering Mermaids' record, I bet the official reason was "bringing the company into disrepute" rather than "unacceptable risk to vulnerable children".
I'm quite reassured that at this point we are just a handful of autists among a rather large crowd of people watching Mermaids like hawks.

I sure do miss the days of proper investigative journalism.
Now that most rags have been reduced to employing people who just write articles about things they’ve read on Twitter, we may as well exploit that and get them writing about the stuff that the public need to know.
I know for sure the Mail pick up stuff from Mumsnet all the time and now Mumsnetters seem to be openly able to mention KiwiFarms, whereas in the past they’ve had to use emojis or stupid euphemisms like ‘Mango Ranch’.
Tattlelife seem to call us ‘The Other Forum’
And it’s mind boggling that what, 4 years on from Challoner case, a proper blue tick like Shahrar is finally able to put out a thread on it.
I do wish all the tweeters and Mumsnetters would copy their work over here as a matter of routine though - just make accounts that do nothing but copy paste and never comment if they are worried about reputations. Twitter will ban you & Mumsnet will DFE if the going gets tough, whereas dear leader will fight the paedos to keep it all up and archived.

Still, once The Tervish Isles gets cleaned up a bit, other countries will be able to point at all the ousted perverts and their useful idiots in our LGBT Youth orgs as an example and hopefully speed things up a bit. This thread started in 2017! Mermaids thought they were untouchable.
They let Breslow resign, so I doubt they actively sacked Mew.
I bet he quit like a coward via email when the Times article went out in a futile attempt to try and prevent any more internet strangers ferreting about in his dirty sports sock basket.
Pretty sure Anna did. IIRC she didn’t back down when she got outed either (possibly in the old hack?) just came out swinging and has been journalistically batoning perverts in public ever since.
