I'd say "Looks don't matter" moreso applies to face-to-face interactions. Dating apps (and online dating in general) are a different beast.

Especially with gay guys as I'm certain that most gays on dating apps are looking for a "fuck buddy" rather than a romantic partner.

Oh sweet, this thread is still going. I posted in here ages ago and got some advice in a PM that lead me to landing my first serious bf. That relationship ended a while back for various reasons and I've basically just had one semi-regular fuck buddy ever since. I've made a few attempts since then to get back into dating but haven't had any real luck so far, and honestly I feel like I'm just way out of sync with what gay men my age are into. Most of the guys I go on dates with are regular pot smokers, don't have any real hobbies or interests outside of the most mainstream stuff you can imagine (Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, etc), and have no real plans or ambitions for their future besides paying the rent and getting pounded on Friday nights. Not to mention a serious aversion to commitment of any kind, like we can't even call it a date we're just "hanging out." I don't want to be too picky, I know I'm not a Chad, but I want somebody who has their shit together on a basic level and has some actual fucking passion for something other than penis.

Also, I post on KF and have some spicy unwoke opinions so I'll always have to weed out the ones who get their political opinions from Twitter. Life's hard for kiwis.

tbh the hard part for me is trying to just focus on my career. I have no problem hooking up with others but I don't want my love life/fuck life to derail my professional one

I'm actually hetero, & in a committed relationship. I came into the thread with a genuine curiosity of how queer people handle the non-Beauty Parlor areas of the Farms and instead got treated to a incel using the thread as a live journal to whine about hunks not wanting to push his shit in.

I hear this argument all the time but it assumes that Jane and Joe Blow can't distinguish between basic gays/lesbians and cross-dressing straight men who want to force women to participate in their fetish. The difference is pretty freaking obvious IMO, and in my experience living in the midwestern US most people are fine with homos as long as they're not walking around in bondage gear, but their tolerance of trannies is tenuous at best because they haven't conditioned themselves to repress that uncanny valley "something is very wrong here" instinct. The idea that tolerance of the LGB will fall like a domino if the T topples is just a scare tactic leftists use to bring the more sensible queers to heel. If anything continuing to push the T as the face of the entire LGBT demographic will be what sours the public on queers as a whole.

And to me it seems like the demographic that accepts lesbians, bisexuals and gay men but draws the line at trannies is really small. It's mostly the people that consider trannies giga-faggots and everyone else in LGBT - regular faggots.
