Don't knock it till you try it. Chinese traditional medicine is taken pretty seriously in many places. In Taiwan for example you need to go to med school and get a license to practice traditional medicine and the national health insurance covers treatment. Also, everyone there has a story of western medicine failing them, but trad medicine coming though. If it works, it works right? Besides, western medicine has long undermined its authority by being drug pushers for big pharma and butchers for the troon cult.
Just like how modern, western medicine shouldn't be taken as inherently valid, traditional medicine shouldn't be taken as inherently invalid. However, as it's, by definition, based off of shallower and often faulty knowledge, discretion is very necessary; for every quinine or acetylsalicylic acid, there's toxic flowers and mercury compounds. The smart thing to do is to research traditional medicine, especially the ones that aren't obviously stupid. We actually already do this; many medicines, even common ones, are ultimately sourced from traditional medicine.
