Diseased #Comicsgate - The Culture Wars Hit The Funny Books!

I'm loving this, thanks for the scan!

There's definitely a lot going on in that drawing.

First of all what's the deal with this guy?

1.jpg

He doesn't seem very helpful. If I was in trouble and this is the super-hero they send I would probably run away.

Why is Captain America getting a key to this city? Because of the vaccine? What does Captain America have to do with the Pfizer vaccine? What happened to that woman's hair? That is a woman right? Wasn't she in the Ghostbusters remake?

And finally a not-so-subtle acknowledgement of our Asian Supervillain mastermind who unleashed the virus onto the world and now watches on with glee as his victims poison themselves further.

Well, gentlemen. We did it. We made it to 2000 pages.

Even if the site drowns in troonshine tomorrow, they'll never be able to take that from us. Good job, everyone.

Are you saying they finally unveiled the more "culturally diverse" version of... wait for it... Batman?

Okay, I'll see myself out now.

LOL! The Avengers are now all about the vaccine and pumping Pfizer!

Dude even looks like Scott Adams
Excellent timing because a pfizer exec just admitted that they didn't test whether or not their vaccines block transmissions at all when they first rolled it out.

Have you noticed Mauler is more active recently? The Fagdom Menace having some churn?
@jspit2.0 (reply bug)
I haven't checked in on Mauler in a while but the rest of the FM sphere is going in hard on the LotR grifting I guess they got their new Last Jedi.

NGL that new LotR looks like easy low hanging fruit. The LotR has been ripe for the picking for them since this was the first thing that franchise has done since the Hobbit trilogy(2012,2013,2014) and since the formation of TFM. I bet Gary and Co. were using the calendar date for the release of the first episode as spank bank material, especially after the first images from the show came out.

They're milking Rings of Power and House of the Dragon for 10 weeks, presumably pushing everything (and everyone else back), which is odd because they seemed to be having quite a bit of momentum through the summer with guests and topics. Now it's literally eFAPing a show (two really, if you include She Hulk) that not even their audience is watching. Their House of the Dragon commentary can be occasionally insightful, particularly with Shad being somewhat of a medieval autismo I guess, but the overall theme is to overpraise it and one gets the impression that the overpraise is them trying to prove a point about not hating everything - when they could have done that fair enough with the last Star Trek show and not looked like shills. However, the HotD vs RoP thing is a much more apt proxy for the culture war than SNW vs The Orville ever could have hoped to be (plus there was some face-saving needed on Gary's part for Orville) so if anything this is just an easier and sexier row to hoe. After all, they don't actually believe any of this so why not take the path of least resistance?

Mauler I'm reasonably familiar with. There's eFAP with that furry of course, and then he had been doing one of Gary's other streams for quite some time so he's already hooked-in and might represent the first ("furst") person to become a regular on their show(s) who isn't manifestly irritating to listen to on stream (Rippa, maybe?). He frequently gets close to structuring his thoughts and expressing them in almost-complete paragraphs and hasn't seemed to suffer the same personality signal hijack that everyone else has, which is good for him but is nothing to write home here about. However, he's softballing it hard, especially when it comes to House of the Dragon. It's a fucking soap opera. A good one, to be sure, but a fucking soap opera. Shad, in his small doses, always seemed like a decent commentator with insight into a specific field of interest. However, the groupthink and FNT/G+G ethos is taking hold and he's wavering between Odin's Movie Blog -esque prayer and contemplation and fits of spaz, which is kinda cool and fun.

How all this plays with their upcoming meetup in Florida I dunno. They're not setting the stage particularly well, but whatever. Maybe they don't think they have to. No idea if Rippa will be there but he's doing everything everyone thought he would do and (a) enjoying a successful campaign while (b) loving it long time with months upon months of vague ambiguous comments which is probably perfect for an entity doing business in These Uncertain Times™, but good for him. He's made a lot of people mad and given them two major vectors through which to express their retardation ("he's going to fail" or "he's destroying @FROG"), neither of which are true or indeed were ever likely. The more interesting question was always (to me) "what the fuck is even this negro doing?".

Frog hosted a stream last night with Hart D. Fischer, he of the controversial Dahmer book from the 90s that made the rounds on daytime talk shows.
It went rather poorly; Hart kept trying to tell Ethan to utilize the Froskurrin protocol on Mark Brooks and focus exclusively instead on growing your own work. This was met with indifference, since it’s casually been the business model for the last couple months. Then he seemed to try to get Frog to say that the exclusion of gay characters from Cyberfrog was a carefully considered artistic choice instead of a knee jerk political move. That sent frog spiraling on and on about how the days for politically neutral art are apparently behind us. It’s too bad Hart’s mic sucked, otherwise it could have been a pretty good conversation. He seemed like an agreeable character.

I thought it went pretty well. Evs and the chat were saying that Hart was Comicsgate before Comicsgate was even a thing. They showed clips of him shutting down Sally Jesse Raphael, and they talked about his Jeffery Dahmer and Rush Limbaugh books.

I think around the middle of the stream was when Hart started having mic problems and connection problems so, slowed things down a bit. But other than that, I found it enjoyable.

I am really liking how EVS is branching out and bringing in guests that have nothing to do with comics. It gives me a Howard Stern type vibe. I also think the Flint Flossy interview was cool as well. I hope that he does more of these in the future.

I’m glad to hear it. I missed the beginning of the interview and by the time I tuned in there felt like this weird tension, which could have been 100% due to the irritating AV problems. I don’t envy Frog in that scenario, either. His wingmen this time were Narwhal, Piper and Malin; not as sharp in the Robin Givens role as Dan Fraga was during Flossy. I hope at some point they get Keown and Hart on a stream together. They seem like they’d have great chemistry.

Frog I hope you’re reading this, because it’s 100% on the money

Editing to say, better to offer up a high quality modern day Stern analog than retread the territory FNT does. Their stuff is going to age like milk once the current epoch of adversarial corporate content passes. And there isn’t enough parent company money in the world to forestall that, indefinitely.

I have only listened to a little bit of it, but a one point early on, Piper interrupted the stream to say why she was dressed up and tell some dumb story about some Karen in a beauty parlor. At the end, Frog pulled one of his, "Yea, anyways..." and went on. When Frog does this, it always reminds me of the Simpson's radio host where the one says something stupid and the other says "haha, your dead weight."

For the most part @FROG has done some interesting and entertaining interviews. Larry Correia and Flint Flossy are ones that come to mind, and this one with Ficher has started out pretty interesting. Now these are ones where Frog is the interviewer. When Frog is the interviewee, those are hit or miss for me. They come off to me as either boring or Frog gets a little too excited/over the top when explaining things. I will say this could be because I know of all the things he is talking about and have heard all about it multiple times(i.e. Frog being pushed out of the industry, being cancelled, SJWs ruining comics), but would be new to people who dont follow anything to do with comics. If I had to give any advise for interviews, I would say do them by yourself or have someone like Dan who doesnt get star struck or nervous talking to someone new on stream.

and keep Malin out of those interviews unless it’s about how to draw comics cuz he comes off a tad abrasive at times.

Malin delivered my favorite moment of the night at the tail end, though.

After the dust had settled following the gay shit and the audio problems, Hart was back, and they do the standard Sign Off Shill-your-Book Roundup. Graveyard Shift Omega Storm gets its turn, and Hart interrupts Ethan’s standard sound bite to praise Jon for the amazing achievement that is sixty thousand dollars in preorders. Not seeing it for what an alarming dropoff it is versus his previous books, Hart keeps banging on and on about what a wonderful thing it is, such an improvement over the direct market etc etc etc. Malin looked like a puckered sphincter in a wool cap. Props to coach for staying cordial.

:lit: "Grab an oar guys"
ting ting ting
I wonder if his current alcoholism obsession of chugging 40oz's has anything to do with it?

That's actually nothing new.

It sounded to me like he was having whiskey and schizophrenia problems, but I liked the guy. Shame the mic problems cut it short because he was wearing them down nicely up until that point it seemed. What I'm curious about is why is @FROG censoring the word "fags"? I thought this was our word..:

I liked Chrissie Mayr's podcast with Ethan. He delivers a candid interview that is sincere, personal, and honest - not a raving apologetic or clown show in wig and glasses. Maybe he does other interviews in this mode, but this was the one I caught. Shame Chrissie didn't invite him to her celebration stream tonight, but maybe she didn't want to make her boss Gary angry.

Holy shit, is Anna morphing into Jennifer Coolidge?
And then another 3-5 years from going full Anne Ramsey.

It’s YouTube and it’s run by lefties so saying any kind of offensive word like fag is extremely dangerous to your channel.

I didn’t edit anything out of that video. I heard the word just fine on my end.

Either the internet “skipped” at just the right time or YouTube did it. But it wasn’t anything I did.
Having just praised your occasional candor and emotional honesty, I will now choose to believe you on this, @FROG. However, it seems like that would mean that YouTube is monitoring your stream in real time and implementing a dump button in anticipation of a no-no word happening on a video they are aware of but only want to censor as it goes viral. And they're able to do this within 30-seconds of a video starting. Or maybe someone with more insight into YouTube could offer a better theory. Did you download this video and add it to your setup as a drop or are you just playing it direct from Rucka Rucka Ali's channel?

It’s YouTube and it’s run by lefties so saying any kind of offensive word like fag is extremely dangerous to your channel.
For sure, but that would mean Kick Anna from the Stream unironically because she says it all the time and she's ultra-paranoid about this sort of thing. Just as I trust Ethan's sincerity on this matter, I also trust Anna's self-interested, low cunning to know what she's doing here. Or am I naive and a giant [REDACTED]?

EDIT:

Ethan performed an experiment this evening on his stream playing the Rucka Rucka Ali video, presumably the same way, and the popular term of endearment was uncensored, so I'm out of ideas. Maybe it was just an unfortunate happenstance where the stream glitched, but that's a spoopy coincidence.
