If Mastriano manages to pull through and win I hope he hits the Philly political machine hard. Knowing the state GOP's impotency though they probably won't support him if he tries to target them. I hate saying it but PA is becoming a very shitty state to live in and I don't have many hopes for the GOP ever destroying the DNC political machine here. According to Gilberto Hinojosa, Chair of the Texas Democratic Party, the problem is in D.C., such as Washington D.C.
According to the Texas Tribune, this is what Hinojosa said about the national Democrats:

‘I’m really, deeply disappointed in the DCCC,’ Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa said in an interview the next day. ‘I hope they change their mind, and if we lose this election, it’s completely on them.’
The state party followed up with a memo saying how it was ‘doubling down’ on South Texas, including by sending ‘staff across departments to the Rio Grande Valley to assist campaigns on the ground with organizing digital, communications, fundraising, and other efforts.’

Mr. Hinojosa is talking about three districts in the south of Texas, where once upon a time, those districts were automatic Democrat victories. As they say, that was this and this is now.

I think mostly because it is a doubleedged sword. Both parties know that if they did that basically all cards are off the table because all you need is 51 people to vote in unison (And given current politics, that means one party).

If Democrats got it done, they'd get the anger of even the Senate GOP grifting off this oppurtunity for their campaigns and risk losing the powers they got. Same goes to GOP.

It's far better and far safer for us all if that threshold stays in place because it means most of the batshit insane shit will die before it can be passed into law.

Freedom Caucus kept derailing a whole bunch of shit the rest of the republicans wanted to do, not to mention John McCain and his departing "Fuck You" vote on Obamacare.

People seem to be under the delusion that the parties are singular, 100% conforming entities - they aren't. They're made up of factions and those factions don't always see eye to eye with each other.

Pelosi had to bribe the Progressive faction in the House just to get the speaker position - they were set to vote against her and try to get someone else in unless she ponied up some of what they wanted (mostly committee assignments and some other power plays) . Similarly on the right, the Freedom Caucus (a bunch of hyper-conservatives) consistently vote against shit most other republicans want for not being conservative enough (as do their senate counterparts, who had just enough in numbers to block a bunch of shit).

And on top of all that, you get individual people like Manchin and Senema who will stall and block shit to try and get some concessions and flex their muscles.
