I wouldn't consider him a hack, but highly overrated. His mocap work for roosterteeth was enjoyable and was a step up from their usual content, it was a fun gimmick and I would consider the contribution from Monty worthwhile. Where the problems arose was when he began his passion project at RWBY, which suffered from the fact that monty was obviously a terrible writer who mostly just copied what had worked before. Also trying to market RWBY as a genuine show when the animation work from Monty was only passable as a internet machinima thing. Monty's work never reached beyond good relatively to other internet projects.

To refine my point: He was a driven hack. I always felt his choreography was gaudy at best. Even Haloid was only entertaining because it was a one-off over the top animation that lasted five minutes. Let's not forget it also ended with both Samus and Master Chief being anime girls and playing into stupid lesbian-bait. It was cool the first time the animation showed up in RvB, but as far as I'm concerned that was the end of the show as a machinima. It was just some guy making Halo models interact while they cut back to the machinima when it was too boring to necessitate animation. Pass.

The picture Geoff paints obviously fits but I feel this is almost manipulative (and in some way Gavin and Michael's responses are as well). These guys were all old enough back then to realize that things will come back to bite you.

Either live with what you've done or fuck off. Pushing everything to the side, trying to believe everyone will forget, and blaming external factors goes to show you haven't changed one bit. The twitter hivemind will bring things up as they please.

I do feel the things Geoff, Gavin, and Michael did in their past are small things (ie they didnt kill anyone), but their responses to their previous actions don't make it better. It's a desperate attempt to keep whatever hangers-on they have left around.

There really isn't any point in trying to believe your morals have become better over time. We as humans are all flawed, and these creators will all continue to make mistakes in someone's eyes.

I guess I'm rambling like hell, but my point is that there's no point in going woke. I respect those who are more in tune with themselves and confident in their work than this disingenuous bullshit.

Poor Matt. I remember thinking he was the worst as a new hire but he really did a ton of work and eventually had some good zingers. I still remember him laughing sarcastically at Jeremy while kicking his ass at Mario Kart, prompting a good Jeremy line: "Why are you a cunt as well as good?"

Plenty of YT people and streamers out there that just do their thing, maybe make a political joke every once in awhile but just keep on trucking with their content.

SSethTzeentach, Brutalmoose, Oneyplays, Internet Historian , ATP, A majority of corpo vtubers are neutral and just keep to making fun content etc and so on (At least these are some of the people I enjoy). Just need to avoid the weirdos who come from Cali or Austin, Tx.
