Not gonna lie, this looks pretty fucking bad. Don't draw anime and start with realism before jumping into stylized shit.View attachment 3736069
So I was trying to use Inkscape for my original design but I realize it lacked a lot of features Illustrator had, so I ended up redrawing and tracing it on Illustrator. Illustrator is still the best imo.
I think is coming along nicely, I need to shade it more and correct some pathing and lines, see if I can modify the colors without losing my vision and done.
It has been almost a year since I did anything with Illustrator and I really like how its coming along... If it weren't for my job I would totally do more art.
EDIT: Just finished! What you kiwifrens think?

I never draw anime, I just wanted to do some fast easy draw in order to test Inkscape capabilities. Not gonna lie, this looks pretty fucking bad. Don't draw anime and start with realism before jumping into stylized shit.
Number 1 reason is because Illustrator is completely the wrong program for drawing anything that isn't a label, graphic arts, typography, etc. You'd be better off doodling in Paint Tool SAI or FireAlpaca, honestly. If you want heavy lines and "heavy shading style" (I didn't see any shading, heavy or otherwise, in your art, unless you're calling that very subtle gradient "shading"), then just do it in a regular art program that doesn't punish you. All this does right now is showcase how poor you and Illustrator are together.I never draw anime, I just wanted to do some fast easy draw in order to test Inkscape capabilities.
Share your thoughts on why it was bad though and will be appreciated. I was going with some heavy lines, heavy shading style.
What the fuck are you talking about? Illustrator is the default software to draw comics and anytype of digital art.. Are you retarded?Number 1 reason is because Illustrator is completely the wrong program for drawing anything that isn't a label, graphic arts, typography, etc. You'd be better off doodling in Paint Tool SAI or FireAlpaca, honestly. Show me something you draw then... Back it up bitch! All this does right now is showcase how poor you and Illustrator are together.
Dude chill, everyone draws at their own level and doesn't have to be an expert at it especially if it is just a hobby.Number 1 reason is because Illustrator is completely the wrong program for drawing anything that isn't a label, graphic arts, typography, etc. You'd be better off doodling in Paint Tool SAI or FireAlpaca, honestly. I disagree, Illustrator isn't the correct program to draw any of these, it is a vector graphic designing program. While it may works okay as a digital drawing program, it's not really good at clipping specific layers in order to feel the celshading of the drawing. Gradient works, but it's really bad for soft shading and only works as a blur for eyes to be specific. You'd rather go with gradient for eyes and hair, but it may works okay with that too. What the fuck are you talking about? Well yeah, is a software that uses vectors and its not for coloring or shading beyond basics... I do the first design to trace my lines in illustrator then go to Photoshop to color, and jump into Speedgrade if necessary (only if I'm doing composite work, which I didn't in the drawing I shared here)I disagree, Illustrator isn't the correct program to draw any of these, it is a vector graphic designing program. Illustrator wasn't meant for general drawing, it is a vector specialist. You're better to go with other options that do better job at drawing general art, such as Paint Tool SAI, FireAlpaca, MediBang, Krita, Photoshop, and apps that are specialized with that.
For Manga, you're looking for MediBang, FireAlpaca and Clip Studio Paint. For now you can purchase Clip Studio Paint Pro for $49.99 as the download version, and $59.99 for the package. They are very effective at their job, and I recommend them for both as well.
Not really misguided, but what the fuck is up with reddit tier elitists art designers in this thread? You're probably misguided, sadly, but use whatever you desired with your graphic tablet or a mouse.
That's really good! How long did it take?No lineart, combination between CSP and Photoshop.
