The problem with this argument is that feeder videos tend to draw out the "feeding" process for as long as possible. Look at the video @Kermit Jizz posted - it takes three minutes to get to the tegu and what is seen before that? Three minutes of the rat attacking the quail chicks and making them suffer even more than they do once the reptile is brought in (and there are many baby monkey videos that follow this sort of formula too). How is that "valuing the hunt?"

You could say we do the same in nature documentaries but they're filmed in a way that shows wild animals doing what they have to do to survive and to show us the facts of life - not show these things suffering for the sake of suffering.

I know I'm a soft bitch, but it's hard to put into perspective how small and fragile quail chicks are. I have a snake, I feed him frozen/thawed, and I'd say an average quail chick is about the size of a fuzzy or large pinkie (pinkie is a young baby for reference). And to clarify, I mean mice. They're a better size comparison for quail.

So it's not even...there's no way to sic a rat on some quail chicks without it being a sick, sick act. There are humane ways to get fresh food for your reptiles. Ways that might involve killing. But... I can't put to words how repugnant and upsetting it is to read that.

On the plus side, as far as I'm aware the current batch of VOs felt the heat and stopped making new content. It's going to be harder to find them but also for them to find each other. Very mixed feelings, I 100% agree.

YT has actually lots of videos of animals being tortured. None, so far as I noticed, has at minimum the "18+" barrier that does not let unregistered viewers see them (to see "18+" videos, one needs to use things like NewPipe - or login as a YT user. Android won't then allow a logout).

18+ videos in the proper YT app come with blurred thumbnails. Among the videos YT considers objectionable to minors are:

an official US army video on soldiers' mission in post-war Germany;
a Washington Post video about the Jan 6 events

anything showing a nipple will get flagged by the software

cats and dogs being tortured are easily found and no steps are being taken by anyone.

another catch is that YT will not allow videos to be reported unless someone is logged in as a YT user.

I use software that blocks YT ads and I am not logged in, but I wonder what would happen if people started complain to advertisers that their ads are being shown on videos of cats being eaten alive.
