I could go either way on this. Would the family care to tell him they’ve cleaned up? Or would they leave him where he is to imagine what he likes? “Your mom has been in an accident, we’re taking care of her, leave her alone” is an important message he needs to hear. “We’ve thrown out the hoard” might not be, from their perspective.
I agree with this assertion, but I'd like to add one caveat to this:
Are Tom and Harriet actually taking care of Barb? As in, are they
actually the ones legally and financially responsible for Barb's current state of affairs? Are they actually looking out for her best interests, and without any legal "coercion," so-to-speak? Let's not forget that Cole potentially has a stake in this too. That's his mother and despite his silence, he still indirectly showed his awareness of the situation at hand because of how many tweets he had to delete due to ween incest spam. I don't know the extent to which he's involved, if at all, but that's still another angle to consider.
I won't speak about Barb as she is right now, because well... the law's actually involved and the public's now forced to acknowledge the buzzard they've been ignoring for the last several decades. With this in mind, she has historically been an
overwhelmingly shitty person to the people around her. She was a criminally negligent parent (at best) to Cole, she was an unhinged harlot with a rotating assortment of boyfriends, she alienated her female relatives because she couldn't stop making passes at their husbands, she let a geezer knock her up so she could baby trap him with a tard, and then we have Chris's life from 1982-onward.
I don't know Tom and Harriet's exact relations with Barb, so take what I say next with a grain of salt. But I seriously can't imagine anyone really
caring about Barb at this time. She was a shitty person to a lot of people, family and friends alike, she enabled her autistic son's worst behaviours, and she's overwhelmingly responsible for the toxic debt that 14BC's been in since Bob's death. Like... I don't doubt that Tom, Harriet, hell even Cole (if at all) are doing
something behind the scenes for her general welfare. But do you
sincerely expect them to make sure she's more than just barely functional?
Because I damn sure don't.
