It wasn't so much "conflating" as NAMBLA (yes, that NAMBLA) latched on to the LGBT movement in England in the 60s or 70s. It took them a few years to finally get the hint LGBT people don't support them.

Albeit undermining LGBT acceptance by invoking the spectre of pedophilia was an argument in play decades before NAMBLA was founded.

But yes, NAMBLA quite cynically tried to put LGBT advocates in a position where, to repudiate NAMBLA, they'd have to undercut their own arguments and legal strategies in the process. Their leadership seemed to have expected everyone else to be as depraved and self-serving as they were.

As much as I hate to admit it I think at least part of this sprung from something I strongly support. (The LGBT movement) Tolerance above common sense and common decency was a terrible fucking idea and now society is reaping what it sowed. Man we're in a scary place when the Fox News and /pol/ guys whining about a slippery slope were correct.

It's worth noting we have other examples amongst the same circles as well. We had Valis77, who was Feminist Frequency's Twitch stream mod, despite being a convicted sex offender. We have several friends of Izzy Galvez's who are virped.org members, which, as one of our Kiwi Operatives exposed, isn't anywhere near as virtuous as it likes to claim.

The curious part is that whilst many of us have had a tendency to conflate the two with Social Justice by default, analysis has yielded that the likes of Nyberg and Rapp leave a lot of these people in a precarious position; pedophiles in general are not well-liked by... Well, anybody, and that includes Social Justice and Gamergate Opposition. When Valis77 was exposed, for example, he was excommunicated overnight.

I didn't quite get why this was until @yawning sneasel forced me into some serious analytical work and made me realize why this was.

So the question is: How does someone like Nyberg or Rapp get defended whilst someone like Valis doesn't? The answer, it turns out, is fairly straightforward: They make themselves into a sort of useful component of "the movement."

Nyberg's ongoing strategic autism against anything remotely related to Gamergate is a great example (even if you only tangentially follow Gamergate, Nyberg shitposts so often and with such prevalence that you will run into her shit at some point either on YouTube or Twitter). She has blamed Gamergate for everything from white nationalism to headlice.

Rapp is little different - she's a vocal Gamergate opponent in a high-profile position with a major game developer and who is in a position with the like-minded. Along with her fellows in NOA, they've not only changed several games to a ludicrous degree, but essentially killed certain titles stateside, as they did with Fatal Frame 5.

In fact, of the various Pedos that we've covered that have been defended by the main line, it's always been someone who has some kind of pull, influence, notoriety, or value. The Nybergs and Rapps of the world hold these beliefs, but they never mention these directly if possible, since that would give the game away. Instead, they code their shit and keep it on the down-low, hoping that nobody really notices. Then, when people digging through their backlog come across it, as Internet Detectives are want to do then come across Nyberg perving out over her cousin or Rapp arguing that Child Porn ownership should be legal, the Antis are then caught in this bizarre position... And then, things get surreal.

The true believers backing these people don't care the evidence - you could have a video of Nyberg re-enacting the BABY FUCK sequence from Mai-Chan's Wonderful Life and a criminal conviction based on it and these people would still be calling it a Gamergate conspiracy. All that matters to them is that you're attacking a "movement" member who has inherent value, and as such, it's an ideological attack since, in these people's eyes, the personal is always political inherently.

But that doesn't mean it's hopeless, either.

Every time something like this pops up, a few people in "the movement" have the scales fall away from their eyes. They realize that they're waist-deep in crazy and start to make themselves scarce. You don't hear from these people because they know they'll be targets if they speak up. But the decrease in followers that these individuals have says it all.

When we opened our thread on Alison Rapp, a few people ventured to poke at her on Twitter. One of them was a woman named Jamie Walton, who is quite an exceptional person. She opted to inform Rapp's employers that she is an advocate of child pornography. She did not do so anonymously.

This has caused people to directly associate her with GamerGate for some reason, and they think that Walton is the victim of a brainwashing campaign conducted here by us for some reason, and that we are also somehow related to GamerGate, because of Jace Connors and Deagle Nation. So by three degrees of separation she is guilty by association.

And this has caused the Clickbait dogs of Kotaku to namebomb an anti-sex trafficking non-profit worker as some sort of horrible GamerGate Boogiewoman.

I want to be very clear. This is someone who has probably experienced sexual abuse and who has gone on to dedicate her entire life to stopping the sale of women as sex product in the United States. She is a key member of a group entirely devoted to protecting children from sex crimes.
