Have the DDOS attacks decreased at all in intensity? I guess no dong is rich enough to keep them up around the clock. They seem to be more focused on other illegal approaches, exploiting vulnerabilities. Either ways, these attacks seem to be the only joy in his life, other than coomer stuff.

Yes, this is basically the logic and has been the academic consensus for a long time. It's also well known that when people speak in public they are more likely to be challenged which has a moderating effect on beliefs. Think about how cults work and this is easy to understand, if nobody's saying "you know L. Ron, that sounds a bit crazy" then it will encourage Hubbard to get crazier and his followers to believe it no matter how crazy it gets. It's the problem with echo chambers, it becomes easy to say "well, everybody believes this" if you never actually encounter people who don't believe it and refuse to accept it rather than try to understand why they believe it and how you might convince them otherwise. You stop believing you need to convince people who don't already believe that you need to blow up the World Trade Center or ship bathtub hormones to children or monitor the Kiwi Farms until your eyeballs try to pop out of your incredibly square skull.
But I agree, some actual sources from extremism research that can easily be linked would be good, so I grabbed a few from various think tanks or academia which speak to aspects of this:

Perhaps more importantly, it's very very hard to find any research in these areas that argues the solution is simply pretending object permanence is not a thing. The only place that these theories that "deplatforming" solves the underlying problems gets any traction is in the mainstream media and on Blue Check Twitter and other such places. It's understandable that these people who do not need to document evidence to present in court in criminal cases against these supposed terrorists and who seem devoted to the theory that the written/spoken word is all powerful in all ways think that the solution is not the free spread of information to best inform all parties but to instead simply have some Godking (like themselves) come down and silence the bad speakers "permanently" and declare the entire job complete. Ask them "But why Bad Thing exist?" and they respond "Who cares? Just make Bad Thing go away NOW!"
