Again, we're talking about a thermal sensor with a 640x480 resolution. It's not going to detect a target that is smaller than its pixels. It won't show up until the drone is close enough to cover at least one pixel, at which point it will be too late to do anything about it.

Like, try taking a photo of a bunch of birds high in the sky with a regular camera using 640x480, then look for those birds. You won't see them, as they're smaller than the pixels and are simply not captured.

Most of the functional anti-drone solutions aren't even that secret anymore. It's common knowledge in certain circles that one of the best ways to passively detect drones in the sky (and pretty much any camouflaged equipment or buried landmines) is using polarization difference imaging, then just use an autocannon or whatever once you know where it is.

This is an example the Germans use, from Diehl, the same people who make their IRIS-T AA missiles, just a big microwave gun. Knowing where to point it might be the biggest challenge I guess, but I don't think you need to be super accurate if there's no random planes to hit accidentally.
