Silent Hill

You can tell the guy is a mega autist, not because of his dead eyed thousand yard stare that stares into your soul in that pic, but because he was actually autistic enough to buy Silent Hill Downpour and that POS HD collection.
He might be a mega autist in that regards, but I can‘t recommend enough the video series he (well, actually they, as he wasn‘t working on that alone) put out named "The real Silent Hill experience".

Especially the following are great (maybe skip the very "special" intros, as they can be quite off-putting, but everything after that, when the actual review starts, is insanely entertaining):
(plus the second part of it)

The full series can be found here (the first round of parts feels a bit clumsy and underproduced, but this is from over 10 years ago, so cut them some slack; however the actual content is great):

Yep, it's most likely gonna be a remake of Silent Hill 2. 12 month exclusivity deal for PS5 and PC.

I mean, if i *had* to choose between an SH2 remake and Life is Strange 3: Silent Hill, i'd go with the former... Still have zero expectations though

I don't know how I feel about a SH2 remake by Bloober.

On the one hand, SH2 is basically perfection and remaking it will probably end up like the amateur restoration of that Ecce Homo 'monkey Jesus' painting. I strongly dislike the idea on principle and have little hope in Bloober's ability to 'update it for modern audiences'.

That being said, although much of my lacking hope is derived from Bloober having made some terrible games, I also recognize that their dogshittery mostly comes from them being unable to write compelling stories of their own.

Perhaps these Polacks just need whipped in the right direction. The story outline of SH2 is already there, the characters already written. As long as they steer clear of decisions like that Medium chick making wisecracks to herself every 5 minutes, that part of the game could be safe. Bloober have proved they 'get' the SH aesthetic at least, and bringing in Akira Yamaoka and Masahiro Ito will keep them in line.

It's very likely going to shit, but I still want to be optimistic goddamit.

Bro... just, no. It's interesting that you posted those last two videos because those are the worst in the whole series. At least in the first few they kept their cool and only talked about the lore and debunked some dumb "theories". But in their videos on the HD collection and Downpour, they really want to be Channel Awesome and it shows, complete with unfunny and cringeworthy skits and autism cranked up to 11. Also, the fact that the guy acts like Linkara when someone calls him out on his retardation even years after those videos doesn't help his case.

Not to mention their whole, "if you want to show Konami your displeasure with their practices, dislike this video" shtick. Yeah, sure. That won't hide your video from the algorithm and possibly could have been deleted by YouTube for the "overwhelmingly negative reception".

It's a shame that the only video that even attempts to call them out for their sperginess is made by fucking Voidburger.

Finally, it's important to remember that this is the same bullshit that Konami did with the HD collection. Getting Hijinx, and inexperienced studio (like Bloober) to deal with one of their most successful franchises. It's uncanny how similar everything is playing out

I can see how people might not like 5th gen horror but I think it was great. Something about the "abstract" visuals and likely unintentional jank contributed to their horror. It's maybe the only genre that benefits from those things.
I can see that now, but even back when you could still buy Silent Hill off the shelf, everything looked too lego-like to take seriously. Or maybe it was just be still being too young and starstruck by PS2's graphics. I played SH2 before 1, and I remember SH2 being the best looking game I had ever played at that point.

Not to drag this off-topic but how the hell did you place 8th gen over 5th gen for JRPGs? I'm legit baffled and not in like a condescending way, I just genuinely don't understand.
Persona 5, Dragon Quest XI, and Yakuza: Like a Dragon were all extremely strong games. Final Fantasy VII and Pokemon RGBY are eternally titans, though it's hard to say how palatable they are for today's newcomers, and nostalgia tends to cloud judgment. 8th gen's B-tier stuff like Octopath Traveler and I Am Setsuna tended to be better than 5th gen's B-tier, like SaGa Frontier and Rhapsody. 8th gen games haven't been around long enough to stand the test of time, nor will they get points for being the first of their kinds on anything, but those games I mentioned were some true diamonds in the rough, at a time when there's just an unstoppable deluge of really awful games everywhere you look. They're the kind of games that remind me why I've enjoyed this hobby my entire life, and keep me from just throwing in the towel and accepting that gaming as I once knew is over.

Stories Untold and Observation were both pretty decent so the thing that that studio are making might be alright.

4 games. Feels a lot like quantity over quality.

It... looks alright? I don't know how to feel about James' new voice.
If they keep it mostly the same, it could be alright. Silent Hill in Japan feels weird though, like they took Silent Hill 4 and decided to go with the idea of not having it take place in the town at all. Townfall looks like it’s Tumblr Hill possibly.

The remake of SH2 *might* be fine, but I have doubts regarding Bloober Team handling it. Wasn't really interesting in anything else until that final trailer of Silent Hill F. No gameplay, but very interesting visuals. Ryukishi07 on the story gives me hope, and I don't want hope for this franchise.

Ok so we got a Silent Hill 2 remake (but it's made by Team Bloober so...:|) some storyboards for a new movie that isn't even being made yet, some gay ass looking live streaming thing called Ascension, whatever the hell Silent Hill Townfall is supposed to be, and Silent Hill f which was just another CGI clip with no gameplay...
