Warhammer 40k

Reveal 2: Arks of Omen

Galaxy wide Abaddon plot to launch Space Hulks throughout the galaxy surrounded by Chaos Fleets.

New rule for Boarding Actions. Kill Team scenery scaled up to 40k scale, less open spaces. Less long range guns, more terminator style stuff.

Reveal 3: Boarding Actions Terrain Package

New terrain, new battlemat, new "void war bases."
I'm excited for this. You can use these new terrain for combat in the interior for orbital platforms.

Damn. Guess it's too risky to talk about what's wrong?
i wouldn't call it risky like fatshark's gonna bust my door down, just that in it's current state it isn't as good as vermintide and i don't really know how to articulate on it. it's a beta, yeah, but it runs like shit and a lot of the gameplay needs ironing out. there's no class limit so most of the time you're playing with three retards that all picked kerillian. specials blend in a little too much with regular mobs. the charger expy has maybe a half second cooldown on his move so everyone's getting groped. melee's kinda wacky, sometimes the swinging animation will just not play and you'll still get the hit. sometimes hits have a bit of a delay and mobs will fly after it looks like you whiffed. ranged combat's alright and i do like how ranged mobs will have a quick glint come off their gun before they shoot at you. tagging specials just feels off, and i can't really put my finger on it. environments are neat but stoners have no clue where the fuck they're going. there's one mission where you have to carry the big thing to the big thing recepticle and for some reason it turns everyone's brain to mush. that's probably the retard players instead of the game but still.

i guess the best comparison is to imagine playing vermintide 2 but with at least two elves on the team, most of the enemies are the beastmen archers or regular chaos fellas, bardin's suddenly fucking huge, most of the map is grey metal and port-a-potties, and then you get jumped by dogs.

it might need to be delayed. it's still pretty cool, but in its current state it's not gonna hold up.

Sorry if this is a noob question - Is there a Warhammer equivalent to RPGDriveThru or any sort of fan archival project? Also, is there anyone that has cataloged images of the entire range of models from 1975 to now?

Oh by Sigmar, the elf and ranged DPS retards are at it AGAIN(I say this as an elf and dwarf main).
We might have been right again, the green-circle chasers might be migrating en masse to Darktide after all. May be the time to replay V2 is nigh.

V2 beta was far worse than at its release of course but If Darktide gets the same treatment then most of those bugs and problems might be fixed in a year or two, so not too soon. Worse, at least half of them will stay or come back from patch to patch. This is still a bit baffling the beta is in this state after years of V2.

As for the "stoners", are you talking about the players ? Well if yes then I would not be surprised honestly. Regular Vermintide players knew by heart each mission but they might be a bit confused with new maps at first, nothing too crazy. On the other hand the beta might have attracted a lot of new players and more casual vermintide players, their proficiency at finding a path/way might not be the best in the world(it was like this with them in V2 despite the linearity of some maps).

Once the game is out and dust settled the population of players will probably get better. Anyway, it might turn to be an excellent rough-gem in the futur.

there aren't any green circles in the beta and honestly i miss them. they don't give you any statistics at all after a mission, so you can't tell who the retard of the party is. despite that, the retard is more often than not the veteran sharpshooter.

idunno, i remember playing the beta for vermintide 2 and it was pretty rough but it ran better than darktide. my computer's probably not fancy fresh enough for it.

yeah, i'm talking about the other players. nobody really knows the levels very well. you know that one mission in V2 where everyone has to get explosive barrels onto that cart? the one where just, no one wants to go get the barrels? the end of one mission in darktide is like that, except in one big circular arena. something about that spot turns people retarded and nobody thinks to cover the guy carrying the shit, and everyone dies.

hopefully they work out most of the kinks by the time it's released. if it seems janky on launch i'm gonna give it a couple big patches before i buy it.

oh shit, almost forgot about the hub. it's pretty lame, it's basically a second life chatroom. you know how in vermintide 2 the hub has a lot of places for you and the rest of the party to mess around? how you've got little platforming puzzles to fuck around with? the training dummies where you can practice with your equipment? you don't get any of that in darktide. you run around in third person and you can see other players running around that aren't in your party. it's all gonna be to show off the cosmetics you paid real money for.

also, i cannot emphasize enough just how fucking bad the game runs. it's profusely shit. my computer isn't a servitor but come on

I'll basically reiterate what has already been said here about the beta, there's a bunch of people who seem new to the gameplay concept and are treating it like a regular FPS, the hub seems pointless atm, and every other game will be filled with 3 veteran sharpshooters who'll hog all the ammunition and do very little with it. Definitely the Kerillian problem all over again.

Overall had fun though.

I thought the beta was okay, better than other betas I've played in awhile that I could actually run. I disliked the lack of class limit and I hope that will be implemented in the future. I also disliked the lack of voip (unless I'm too retarded to realize if it's already there?) because the lack of communication meant that two of the retards I was with yesterday were running off just to kill enemies and hoard ammo/medical instead of playing objectives.

I quite enjoyed the beta aside from the typical fatshart lack of performance optimizations. I was a Bardin main in VT2, definitely gonna be an ogryn main here.

Soundtrack slaps pretty hard, too.

Hopefully the retards are filtered out not long after Darktide's release. I think the core game is good but fatshart aren't the type of dev to either learn from past mistakes or get it right the first time.

Been going through the Leagues of Votann book and some of it makes me think we'll get a story one day that's similar to Moby Dick since some Kin like to go out and hunt down Bane (Tyranid) splinter fleets for the rich bounty of resources they have. Any story involving Orks and Votann will just be a typical Dwarf vs Orc story. There's no change in that.

Some of it makes it sound like Votann could be a Primarch.

My Army box gets here today and I get to discover if I got scammed on ebay or not.

Man, I don't even have a remote clue about what kin to go with. There's only one named HQ so that kinda narrows it down a lot, tho?

I don't really feel like I did. Though I bought several boxes of Leagues of Votann thinking that we wouldn't be getting more as soon as we did and I could sell some off. Boy was I wrong.

Well, it arrived and wasn't a paper photocopy of the codex + poorly done resin copies of the sprues, so I didn't get scammed.

Boggles my mind that retailers were buying 400+ copies.

I think it's because people were expecting shipping shortages but box set shortages didn't even last a month. Luckily I was able to sell the extra rule books and some of the models I wasn't going to use in my army.

That being said, since the current lore lends itself to raiding Tyranid hives I think that's the route me and my wife are going to go with our narrative games. Gives me a few ideas for campaigns and a new style of gaming board to build. Though I'm not sure how it'll look in miniature form.

Still have some boxes I'll be sitting on for awhile. They don't feel like they'll be "collectors items" like some other ones out there.

It amuses the shit out of me that apparently the Squats are Tyranid Hunters to the point that the Hive Fleets actively avoid them now.

Only other instances of that I've heard of in the lore are them moving WAY THE FUCK OUT OF THE WAY to avoid one of the sealed Ctan, and them blowing their own Hive Fleet ships up once after one tried to eat a Nurgle infested planet.

for some reason I pictured a Votann ancestor core looking like the floating stone head from Zardoz:

They only go after the smallest of the stragglers, similar to some Rogue Traders. You wont be hearing about them going after any of the large Hive Fleets. If they ever do I would question where they got the numbers from.

So Shootas Blood and Teef is ok. I haven't played this style of game before so I can't really judge it too well, but, it's not bad so far. Definitely better with mouse and keyboard, tho.

The entire game is set off when your warboss decides he likes your hair squig more than he likes you, so he steals it and throws you out of his warship. From low orbit. You then claw your way back up to him from there.
