‘Sweetie Wife’ oh man how I loll’d at that! It’s an uncommon phrase nowadays and very localised geographically but it describes anyone (usually male) who likes to gossip, spread news or stories and is generally a bit of a busybody and one to avoid if you don’t want to be talked at (and about) for the next three years. My Mum would describe certain individuals in our street as ‘old sweetie wifey’s’ and give them a polite nod while moving determinedly past. It’s quite fitting he used that term to describe Chantal.

I don't care how attractive or rich someone is. Not speaking the same language would be a an automatic deal breaker for most (sane) people.

That might be true for you, me, and anyone who values human communication, but for Chantal, it is a plus. She can misinterpret everything he says and translate it into something that will massage her ego. It also allows her to be as lazy intellectually as she is physically because she doesn't have to really think about anything deeper than what her pea brain is comfortable with. Having a slavic name and living in north america I have had my both my names butchered by just about everyone, I have had my name misprinted on government issued ID. It depends on how old and where in the world Salad was when he learned English. For that matter, it's always possible (as is anything with Chantal) that English was first and Arabic is his second or third language learned very young. Apparently both Syria and Kuwait stress English language in school and from what I just read, Kuwait even uses it for some business dealings and has English language radio/tv.
Kids are kids, if he was at all young I'm sure the boys whispered all the "dirty" words at each other.
