This whole debacle has fundamentally shifted my perspective on things. Not to say I blindly trusted mass media prior to this, but I was naïve enough to believe that, generally speaking, there was still such a thing as journalistic integrity serving as a pillar for that industry. I used to scoff at right-wing figures complaining about being censored or cancelled or suppressed in the algorithm or whatever it may be. I was sure a few of them might've been targeted unfairly but I was convinced the vast majority of people banned from social media earned that ban by acting like clowns and breaking ToS.
Not anymore. I am genuinely stunned at the complete lack of critical reporting done by news outlets, big and small, in regards to the Kiwi Farms. I'm well aware this forum is the antithesis of popular social media and a majority of people would take one look at this place and leave because very terminally online shit gets discussed here and often in a very rude manner. Even so, it was surreal to see one news outlet report on the word of some random twitter retard, doing zero investigation into the situation themselves and then have like a dozen other news outlets report the exact same shit, citing the first one as their source. Literally just a flock of parrots squawking the same unsubstantiated half-truths into perpetuity. 0% critical thinking, 100% ideological agenda-brain. They don't like KF so they decided it's okay to publish unconfirmed falsehoods about it and there's 0 accountability.
If these people actually gave a shit, they would have done some homework and reported fairly or not reported anything at all. You could say a lot of bad shit about this place and be fair about it, instead they just fucking lie. Now I've seen it happen first-hand with a subject I'm actually somewhat informed on, how many times have they lied about shit I knew nothing about and thus weren't able to see through their bullshit.
Fuck journos, hail Josh.
