Warhammer 40k

And who's to say a woman *can't* be turned into an Astartes, given that they are unnaturally frankensteined into superhuman killing machines?

Of course, that would conflict with their real intention: to have a girly war waifu to coom over, when space marines are often grotesque meatheads who live and die violently.
Canonically, the various implanted and genetic augmentations only work on dudes.

The Sisters of Battle originally started out as a really silly joke, too.

I thought that there was nu-lore that basically suggested that women could be Astartes aspirants, but the geneforging afterward turned them into androgynous meat-slabs that are identical to other (previously) male Astartes. Or something.

Fuck that. They need to go full Boddicker and say, "Bitches leave".

How new? Because from my understanding Malcador suggested expanding the augments to women and Emps was "No time, turning men into Astartes is already a difficult enough process and besides, they don't have the testosterone-fueled aggression necessary to commit genocide against entire species of xenos."

An then sisters of battle were like "Hold my beer chief"

No. The Sisters of Battle have been canon for a long, long time. Almost as long as Female Space Marines have been explicitly not-canon. If you want to talk about things with the Sisters of Battle that DO concern the fanbase, they've actually been slowly changing them from being witch hunting nuns -- so chainswords and flamers, targeting light armored targets like heretics -- to being... female space marines (so big armor and bolters).
Unironically I think the sisters of silence have the potential to be more concerning since the normal sororitas still have a lot of baggage in the lore, have a few dedicated writers while probably are closer to woke then not seem to want to keep most of said lore then throw it out with the bathwater, and if they get uppity there's always the odd Grey Knight in need for a holy relic. Where I don't think anyone is dedicated to writing the soulless groupies and right now they have fewer things a few hack writers need to "fix" from just turning them into female custoides with super special warp immunities.

I'll say with 5E, it's really easy to ignore bad books/rule changes and just use whatever stuff you liked before. Infact, that's kinda the perk of how modular 5E is, you can take stuff you like and ignore anything else you don't like.
has nothing to do with 5E, that's TTRPGs in general. they're too insular and independent to really subvert, just throw out (or add) the shit you don't want. unless you play adventurer's league, but given the state of official 5E material, who would do that to himself...?

wargaming is similar but you got too many WAACfags and people only in it to chase the newest shiny cheese and exploit rule holes (at least in warhammer, for some reason other games are way more chill. haven't played warmahordes tho, but that's pretty much dead anyway).

wasn't the lore they can't even really be considered males either given the extend of modification? otoh it might be better to conveniently forget about it before it attracts even more stinkditches...

Astartes are all physically male, but their actual sexuality and function is up in the air. In the book about that Spess Corgi trickster dickbag its implied he's been banging and impregnating half of Fenris even after becoming an Astartes... and then there's Bjorn the Fell-Handed and his canonical quest to pick up some bitches. I believe most Chapters do a chem geld just in case they might get second thoughts about a family other than their brothers, if their body allows it after the process (and it plausibly could since the augments don't touch the reproductive area nor are they germline). Naturally the Spess Corgis wouldn't do that sort of thing because they're you know, Space Vikings. Hell, ol' Ragnar Blackmane himself was getting the hots for a cute psyker chick in an Inquisitor's retinue right after being declared a Blood Claw, complete with mandatory teenage angst about his feelings.

Note: Do not assume the Space Corgis are at all representative of any Astartes other than the Space Corgis. Although they are evidence that the physical process itself doesn't completely kill all desire and feeling, that being left up to a Chapter's indoctrination.

Don't really care about the Spikey Bits guy Rob Baer and whatever dumb feud he has going on with painter Juan Hidalgo, but I don't think the 40k subreddit jannies have any business power-tripping and giving him the Arch treatment.

EDIT: It also seems like a pointless virtue signal from the jannies as well. He has rarely used his now-banned account, and posts on that subreddit consist almost entirely of official GW announcements and people's personal photos. It appears that there have been 23 Spikey Bits posts with subpar engagement in the past four years.

>You can find a summary about this posted by Kirioth on twitter.

Imagine my fucking shock that Kirioth is involved in SJW drama and the blacklisting of a site that a SJW controlled alternative -- Bell of Lost Souls -- exists of.

Also reading into it, they're definitely protesting too much. Hidalgo appears to literally be being paid by Vallejo, which he didn't disclose in his reviews of Army Painter's Speedpaints, which are a direct competitor of Vallejo. Oh, and Hidalgo was working with Vallejo on their Speedpaint / Contrast equivalent product, Xpress Color for the past year.

War games have such boring drama but Rob is a giant man baby and this is exactly what he did to Arch because “me no like”. SpikyBits usually does a weekly podcast on YouTube so let’s see if they mention it at all this week or if they want to “move past the drama”.

I think the Trickster guy did it before he got wolfified. Ragnar's case was more platonic.

Since there is genetic engineering going on, even if the act happened, the two types of genome wouldn't be compatible.

Wrong. The genetic engineering doesn't touch the gonads. In fact, there's surprisingly little actual genetic engineering involved. The most genetic engineering that happens is with the occulobe where it alters optical functioning. The rest of it are all implants that function separately from and with little regard to the larger human as a whole, which is why they require all the other organs to maintain a correct hormonal balance and function. The reason why they get them young is because the process is an incredibly hormonal one and naturally it works best in puberty when the human body is already going through a hormone storm and the massive changes involved. Its essentially a reverse trannification in that they shove a bunch of funny things into his body instead of removing them and then feed the kid a ton of growth hormones and other funny things to make sure he grows up big and strong, like ceramic in his diet for his ossmodula to process to aid in bone density and strength. The implants don't even touch the bone marrow, instead the blood changes are done by the haemastamen and Larraman's gland.

Hell, IIRC Space Marines are even ahem "proportional" where it really matters. There's a reason a Space Marine is more likely to look like a gigachad than a human being after all.

Slaves to Darkness box set is up for pre order and is surprisingly still available. Either the hype isn’t there or GW may have made enough boxes to go around this time.

Hm.

You know, Kill Team is great for scratching that "oh god I wanna play this army but fuck getting 2000 points" itch.

Is there a AoS version of Kill Team?

sill willing to bet some chapters/legions (pre heresy Word Bearers, post heresy Emperor's Children, etc) practiced some kind of genital removal.

I wonder if it'll be the full Daemon Prince kit in that set. Was gonna pick him up for the 40K version, and relegate my old prince to my Slaves army. Be nice if it was.

Edit: Just realised this is the Army set and not a new Start Collecting box. So likely is the full Prince kit. Apologies for the retardation.
