Looking around at other instances I have zero clue how so many other fediverse admins can justify keeping their own nebulous doxing rules after watching Graf burn down his big gay baby jail over it. It's a red flag at this point, a rule without either a legal or even colloquial definition that can be equipped by any sperg with a temper tantrum and flailed at their own users at will. It's caucus belli for an emotional manchild to publish user cell network data or whatever other 20 IQ Looney Tunes moves he had up his sleeve. Anything from an emoji or excessive tagging counts, and can retroactively be uncounted under the near ubiquitous "doxxing" rules people have. Some Kotaku shitfuck invents a word a decade ago and it becomes such an egregious bogeyman in the minds of overly online weirdos that I've seen more instances proudly serve child gravure than ones that don't have some vague, undefined doxing rule in their about section.

Anyone dumb enough to follow e-celebs into a retard quicksand pit like poa.st deserves the illustrious treatment they get, but I'm 100% certain that the exact same malicious autism exhibited by Graf will come home to roost on the splinter sites as well. At any rate, if you bemoan graf's emotional moderation style, then Claire's rules-based style is a preferable alternative, isn't it?

The Vito situation showed that the moderation hadn't quite settled into a routine and showed her inexperience. A more battle-hardened admin would have either told Vito to fuck off or said he had a right to be there as long as he behaved, not publicly hand-wringing about how difficult the situation was. Even if she was waiting for an excuse to can him, telling all your users that that's what you're doing is ... weird. I've never seen a mod do that anywhere, and I can't think of any situation where I would do such a thing, but it is the sort of "I need to look nice and be friendly and one of the guys" thing I would have done in my very early days as an inexperienced janny. Eventually you learn that just being a decisive asshole is pretty much the only way forward if you want to keep your sanity. I like Claire and Chudbuds, that's why I'm there and not on Poast, but she is making rookie mistakes and I hope she learns quickly, especially given the rather unruly nature of her userbase.

I think "No Pedos" is a good blanket rule for any website, personally.

Chudbuds is a fun place with a good vibe, but it does need to grow past just being a place to Alog Ralph and Nick Fuentes. Some of the people there are utterly obsessed and watch more of Nick's streams than the Groypers do.

Clairebere and ShotgunShuffle seem to be genuinely nice people, which as you said is a concern. Claire has only had to ban one person and she publicly agonised about it, but there's more than a thousand people there and there are going to be problems that she is going to have to moderate. There was a known pedo who signed up and she had no idea how to deal with it, because the instance's formal rules clashed with her personal values, and so she ended up hovering over the ban button, waiting for them to commit the tiniest technical infraction so they could be disposed of. You can run a small discord server or something like that, but a rapidly growing community like that is going to run into real problems unless the infrastructure (in terms of both staff and tech) grows with it.

Moderating a community 100% based on your own personal feeling is how you get Poast with Graf's constant flip-flopping and people getting mad at him because there's no consistency. People there don't feel their accounts or any personal info are safe because even if they follow the "rules" that doesn't mean Graf won't ban then, try to dox them or whatever else. If Graf doesn't calm the fuck down (and he seems to be doing anything but) he's going to become a lolcow and Poast is going to be a fucking zoo.

Chudbuds needs more admins and Clairebere needs to learn to be more of a hard-headed bitch or it's going to go down in flames before it reaches its potential.

Not trying to kiss Josh’s ass here, but I think watching the meltdowns and incompetent moderation of these alternative platforms should make people appreciate the style of moderation at Kiwi Farms. Seems like a nice balance. Speaking as a newfag I think some rules are a little vague here, some unspoken stuff, but it’s fine to have the community police itself and to learn by hazing.

Josh can also freak out at people but I’d rather have that direct unfiltered shit-talk than a two-faced, wishy-washy admin. I also genuinely don’t feel like Null would leak IPs out of spite of whatever. That’s what had me concerned with Poast and made me delete my account, which was disappointing.

We're not immune to janny drama, unfortunately (Spooky Bones and zedkissed60 being the most prominent) though all the janny drama I can think of happened well before your join date.

Insofar as the vagueness surrounding site rules, I'd argue that they're highly specific but incredibly flexible. There's only three hard and fast (practical) rules here on the Farms:

1. Don't incriminate (read: PL) yourself.

2. Don't act like an autistic tard by getting mad on the internet.

3. Don't be a gayopping faggot, or otherwise do shit that would literally give glowniggers probable cause.

Mods, please correct me if I'm off-base here, but I'm pretty sure that's been the way you guys have operated since the Farms first started, right (or since you acquired jannyship)?

This will be a fun experiment.
All these journoscum and namefags who are so high on their own soy farts, suddenly coming into the fediverse, will have an interesting experience.
They will block users and instances to their own eyes, but they won't be able to block you to the entire thing. This key aspect is what I believe will make them seethe uncontrollably, because it was never about them curating their own experience, it was about totally shutting other views out.
They will build their own cuckshed instances, make gay little banlists and interact with their own ilk, but them knowing that somewhere, someplace, in the same accomodation they use, a bunch of users are blasting NIGGER at full volume, that will chafe their ass to no end.
I'm also curios how the interactions will go, because as they can block others, so will others block them, for few people tolerate journo faggotry.
In the end, they will just be sitting at a lonely table with fellow smear merchants, no egotistical blue checkmark, no bot followers, nothing. Just the droning sound of losers, fellating themselves over their past faux self-importance.
