I think the Happenings thread will be the right place for (hopefully) memes and laughter and all the real election night stuff, but another attempt by Trump to say "be smart, Ron."

Trump probably has nothing on him, but we were wondering how retarded you would have to be to throw all your goodwill away, yet no one realized the answer could be "his wife wants him to run now." And after seeing how horrible Sloth in PA is being displayed so his wife can have more power, it becomes more and more apparent don't let your spouse lie to you for their own attempt at power.

Voted mostly GOP this morning in my blue hive as soon as the polls opened at 7 AM. The only two non-GOP votes I had were local races where the Democrats were running unopposed, so I wrote in "Bryce Harper" and "Stephen Miller" for those spots. Really hoping the Italian Stallion Mastriano pulls it off.

Yes, please! This post is fine, but just as a heads up for everyone closely following things ITT, when we get deeper into results please direct all memes, salt, etc to the Happenings Thread for the midterms.
This thread should be more geared towards announcing results and speculation about their potential ramifications.

Being registered to vote doesn't mean being likely to vote. If they ordered an amount for all registered voters you'd end up with hilariously more paper than is actually used. The numbers go off expected likely voters, not registered. This is especially true in a midterm which generally sees much, much less voter turnout than the presidential election.
It's not really a good thing that, rather than malfeasance, it's caused by cost-cutting. It's like if a building collapsed, and it was found out to have been made with %50 chinesium rather than the incident being an act of terrorism.

Katie Hobbs, who is running, is also in charge of the voting machines. Who'da thunk it?
Amuses me that she’s an uncharismatic dumpy middle aged cat lady with glasses who works as a social worker, basically the perfect Dem archetype.

If she wins over Lake (who she refused to debate) it’s definitely a steal. There’s just no way.

I voted early this morning, around 7:45. Surprisingly relatively young (read: still in their 40s or 50s) volunteers, plus a chick I went to high school with. Also surprising that there were other relatively young (20s, 30s, 40s) people there already voting, not just geriatrics. I guess the few of us decided to go vote before work. Red county in a blue-ish state, so hopefully we can all do our part to take the governorship.

Was surprised that there was a decently sized line to the polls when I walked over to my polling place since there was maybe an hour and a half left before closing. Don’t really know what to expect results-wise, especially after New Jersey’s gubernatorial race last year where our democrat incumbent won by only the slimmest of margins.

Oh, and I got that Yuengling like I said I would. Ordered a hot pretzel too but it sure is taking a while. :(

My secret hope is that they actually let Bernie win, and he loses to Trump. It'd solve the socialists problem in their party and avoid a spectacular disaster of any of their potential picks post Trump being shit on by the man directly.

Besides the issue of letting the Progressives have an inch running Bernie, there are the implications that would follow IE if they run him with minimum support the Progs will be pissed and accuse the Democrats of setting up Bernie to fail and them retaliating against the establishment Dems or worse, Bernie losing in respectable fashion where it's a close defeat and it emboldens the Progs to demand MORE Prog candidates for President in the future.

Running McGovern in 1972 was supposed to shut the Prog base back then and instead the Progs made it so that the Democrats had to keep running Progressive candidates with no hope of winning until Bill Clinton say "no more" and ran in 1992 to spite the Progs for constantly losing. Bernie would open the door for that sort of thing happening again, even if he lost in a landslide....

Done and done. Straight ticket Republican in blue-as-hell Taxachusetts with joke write-ins for all the unopposed Democrat picks (with one very specific exception I cannot say without a PL.)

I do hope that Geoff Diehl becomes governor here but I will not hold my breath. Charlie Baker was milquetoast RINO enough to win his last eight years, but Massachusetts loves their progressives and LGBT tokenism. Maura Healey is gonna worsen the status quo here for sure.
