Just to divert to doomposting a little bit, I just remembered something earlier this evening while I was stuck in two consecutive multi car pileups on my drive home from work. Some lady in Mercer County called into the radio show I was listening to to complain about why voting isn't more streamlined and why we can't all just vote on a computer in the comfort of our own home? She argued (and I used that term generously) that some egghead should write up a software that allows you to vote based off your SSN and will boot any duplicate entries that may be entered.

Surprise surprise, she reveals two minutes into her tirade that she voted Democrat. I don't think even the boomer-est of Republican voters are this lazy when it comes to voting. Credit where it's due, at least they'll go out to the polling places and wait in line like doing so isn't this major affront to their precious time. I'm not a fan of voting machines at all and would prefer paper ballots, but I'd still take the former over a computer application.

So what's the other side's alternative to fix all that?
To take one or more houses of congress to stop batshit insane legislation that further fucks up the economy and ensure the Biden Administration can't get shit done for the next two years.

Agreed. I just want them to take the house and 51-49 the Senate. That creates the necessary gridlock to get around two more years of this tomfuckery.
That's really all I every hoped for. People like Tim Pool thinking it's going to be a huge win for reps get crushed with ever they hype it up to much.

People are just so polarized I don't think opinions can really be shifted anymore. You have to vote for your home team because it's the home team. People aren't really open to ideas that challenge their world view, or they would have to concede they were wrong on some level.

Nearly everyone I know goes point blanc on how other color is evil and will end democracy, yet I have always had friends on both sides and understood the points each had. I think that's a rare quality though, since most people are only focused on dominance, rather than any healthy exchange of ideas.

Admittedly, I am sort of looking forward to the Stock market potentially nose diving tomorrow. I kind of want that Greater Depression just for the experience. Got to put all those "hard times" cooking shows I've binged to good use.
I can describe it like this.
If you have progressive/left leaning friends - The GOP= Nazis who want to murder and kill trans queer kids. Even though Donald Trump compared to other presidents was moderate. In their mind he was literally Hitler 2.0 and nothing you could say or rationally do would change their minds. They think if the GOP wins in 2024 abortions are gone and America will be a literal hand maidens take.

Same thing with the GOP
If the Dems win anymore seats they have gone into full it's obummer communism today we need to do etc.. etc...

While the GOP was at least laughable in their Obama hysteria. The Dems took it to militantly extreme levels and literally rioted.
