At that point I thought perhaps he was trying to play his social media presence into a position with a known activist group like HRC or GLAAD or something, which he would then try to build off of.

I feel like the opportunities to get in on the trans movement are becoming rarer as the entire thing has been aggressively exploited to its limit by useless self-interested losers. The way I see it: these days, there are generally two ways to make it as a troon celebrity or influencer or general success story:
1. Be an AGP who has gone the classic AGP route: establish yourself in a male dominated career, possibly marry and father a few kids, and then troon out after you have reached a level of power where people can't laugh in your face and have to play along with your fetish.
2. Be a cute "trans kid."
The latter isn't a great choice, as you will eventually age out of cuteness and your bones will start to decay from the puberty blockers, and the former requires a personality Tony never had.

I was about to write something similar in the Musk thread, but yes - the power of Twitter was that it had a pre-existing userbase of normies and others when they infiltrated management and started steering the site towards woke activism; most normies adjusted to their politics or were never really controversial in the first place.
