trick question: smurfs arent exactly human but i cant recall many similarities between smurfs and other fandoms that are in animal control.

for communities, there are (or were) a suprising amount of defenders for it, but its not exactly the main focus of the thread.

maybe it could go lolcows of history? yeah were still talking about it but smurf in hand was gone even before the thread started.

Yeah, I think Lolcows of History would probably be the best fit, if this thread got moved anywhere. Certainly inactive as there's no new content (thank god), just an enduring mystery of who the hell did this.

So I think Dr_Hfuhruhurr and David Tolin could be the same person. I haven't found anything that relates Dr_Hfuhruhurr and Smurf in Hand other than the fact they have the same avatar, though.

Maybe? I've never used it myself and the cake channels I follow use modeling chocolate.

But I have had fondant before and it was a bit airy, but it had been baked.

Considering that this avatar has only ever been used in association with the Smurf In Hand account and was created by Smurf In Hand, this account profile has had the avatar since at LEAST 2010, before the thread was ever discovered… this is him. The chances of it not being are fucking absurd. In addition, the way he talks is very Smurf In Hand. It‘s him.

He features in this list of users with Smurf avatars - which was last edited August 8th, 2010. In addition archive.org captured him having the same avatar as Smurf In Hand in September 2009.

I think someone else may have suspected him before because his profile was captured on archive.today in 2017, which is a manual archiver.

well, it may have been me. I spent free time that year hunting him, archiving as I went. I didn't dig past the first layer of possible results back then yet, I only applied skills later.
I may have archived that along the way. I archived every possibility I found, to look through later.

I'll go back to my notes on this and see if I can find the name and what made me archive it, if I did- it won't have been this avatar though. I didn't find anyone through this image when I originally reverse searched for it (and didn't try again after that).

I'm going to glance around at the other people on bigger sites who edit possibly-related pages just out of curiosity. I feel like the person who wrote the hurtcore isn't going to be bragging about it, but probably won't be able to hide their weirdness very well.

I’m 100% convinced now. There are 2 explanations:

1) David Tolin is completely unrelated to this, and just so happened be a fully grown adult man who enjoys the smurfs, who is involved in an extremely questionable Smurf fan group, who lurks the same obscure Smurf forum, finds an obscure user there, steals his very strange profile picture that he had personally made featuring his own hand, and uses it across various social medias of his for the next decade without explanation.

2) David Tolin is Smurf In Hand.

Occam’s razor. We’ve found him, lads.

I looked through a few of his old forum posts and there are a few strange notes. He got into a weird argument about sodomy and bestiality. Said he wasn’t defending either but he came off as very odd during the conversation. In addition he passionately defended comic sans - the font the entire comic is written in. There’s probably more but there’s a lot of posts.
