Fire had no savings. His paycheck as a self-contained classroom teacher back in Florida had a lil bit taken out of each, which would then go in a fund to the tune of $2k at the school year's end. This would be their money to live off of during summer break.

I did not abuse Fire. I did not financially exploit Fire. I asked them to pay a small amount of rent, like $300 a month. I asked them to sell their car because of the murderous interest rate on the loan so we could buy a cheaper, but ultimately more affordable car.
