We have a lot of former poast users, but that isn't why I made the instance. I set it up in September when graf was encouraging people to spread out and make their own instances. He even gave me technical advice on setting up Soapbox and advertised the instance after I had it running. I made the instance because I had seen how the influx of kiwis, metokur fans, and IBS/e-drama followers was annoying the established poast user base. I wanted to make a place where people could talk about that stuff if they liked without annoying anyone or getting poast users slapfighting with them about ruining their culture on poast.
I took inspiration for the name from Jim's year of the chud streams and because chudbuds.lol is a fucking funny name. But it's not run by Jim in any way. He has accounts on both poast and chudbuds, his poast account is his main. Also I have in our TOS that the site is not intended to be a shrine to daddy Jim, and there are no sacred cows there. If Jim does something stupid, we are going to laugh at him too.
Our rules are here if anyone is thinking of joining:
https://chudbuds.lol/about
Other than standard stuff, the main rules to keep in mind are no loli, no gayops or setting up accounts solely to harass someone on chudbuds or another instance, and no posting dox or asking for it. You are allowed to link to KF threads which may contain dox, but no linking directly to a pastebin of dox, etc.
We currently have just over 1600 members. We use soapbox for the front end, but we also offer a pleroma front end for anyone who prefers that. Other features include a guilded server, a self hosted matrix server, a blog/news site (currently a WIP), and a minecraft server I'm launching today.
Anyone who can abide the rules is welcome, but I agree with crunklord, ringtones, and others on the thread who have pointed out that spreading out is the smartest thing for the health of the fediverse. I plan to write a series of how-to pages on the blog site to teach people how to use the fediverse and also how to set up their own instances if they want. I'm a nearly 40 year old mother of 6; if I can figure it out and do it, anyone can.
